That makes no sense. The SuperSoil is the food. Without it the plant will burn through whatever is in your soil in a few weeks.
I could have read wrong, but didn't Mr. Subcool himself make the statement that some strains would need less supersoil and others more???:leaf::leaf::finger:

Less is a relative term, but it certainly doesn't mean none or very little. It just means some plants need 50% of their soil to be SS, some less, and some need more. In my 3 gallon pots I put almost 75% because the pots are so small, in my 7 gallons it's about 50%. I am going to be trying a long running Sativa and increasing to a 10 gallon just to give it more food.

Sub you are famous in Vegas.
I went to a place that is suppose to have everything. I mention Humic acid and the guy behind the counter smiles and holds up a piece of paper with subcool's super soil recipe on it.

They had everything but the humic. I even found some rock phospate which I recall was used in an earlier SS.

I take that back about the rock phosphate. I found where Sub says he just used it once.
I dont want to sound like I am selling anything but that place was cool. Huge lot with giant Parrots scaring you everywhere with HELLO, HELLO.

Roots was $16.98 and the guy said he would order some Humic because a few people have asked for it. They had some giveaway bags of oganic humis from Alaska but they had just run out.

I am gonna read back through this thread and the other one on 2010 revised to see what it says about using everything but the humic. I recall someone asking and the answer was "yes you can mix without but it is an important ingredient" so it would be best if I sat on my hands for a another week, but its a gorgeous day to get some sun and some exercise.

"Its not a huge requirment someone turned me on to humic so I use it you can simply add some a few times through watering.

I like Golden Humic Acid myself

You could also just mix up the granules and water your soil initially"

You will form humic acids naturally when you cook your soil. As long as you have microbes, you will get humic acids. Maybe Sub will jump in here to detail why he thinks adding more is necessary because IIRC, he said it was not a critical additive so if you have trouble finding some, just run without it. It does seem to be a product that isn't carried by many local shops and I made my batch of SS without it and still get good results.

Roots Organic has humates added (the ingredient derived from leonardite). Popular expensive liquids also provide it (Biobizz Bioheaven, Biobizz Top Max and General Organics Diamond Black).

The powdered form is much cheaper and it can be found on eBay. Or search the web for leonardite and menefee humates, which I have seen for $0.50 per pound.

I got my SS all mixed up and put away, then the hamster wheel started grinding and I recalled something

I mixed a half batch and got everything right except the water. I used the normal amount.

They dont call me bonehead for nothing

I skipped the Azomite because my only opition was a 70 dollar 44lbs bag, and if I would've sprung for that I wouldn't have been able to order my Qleaner beans. I was hoping it would be ok, but then i googled it and read about it being basically a shatload of trace minerals so i found a 2lbs bag off ebay for a much reasonable ticket. Problem is the soil's cooking now, should i repeat the process again, mix it in as soon as i get it? I just figured I'd let my 30 days come up and mix it in mix the soil super good on my tarp again and be set to use it.

So how do all of you guys keep from getting bugs in your soil mix? I'm so scared of getting fungus gnats, spider mites and all the other bullshit crawling around outside in my soil as it bakes, that would be so much $ wasted.

I do have a small balcony upstairs I could fit a tub on to bake the soil so it wouldn't be at ground level but still, would that be enough? Also i recently lost a whole vegging crop to roots aphids i got from dirty clones so i never ever ever ever want to go through anything like that again.

get you a trash can with a locking lid, its inconspicious and on your balcony nobody would mess with it, plus it'll keep the bugs out.
