Drying with a heater? help

Hi, my closet is really cold around 60-65F. I was planning on getting a mini heater to warm up the closet to 70F, for drying.

Would that be okay?

thanks

the heat will lower humidity and raise temp, make sure you keep a close eye on the temp. I'd try maybe heating the room your closets in, or heating the air just outside the closet and trapping it in. Make sure your Rh is b/w 40%-50% or else your buds are gonna get crispy on the outside too quick, cause an uneven dry, and your buds will smell like hay/grass/clorophyll on the outside.

edit: And you need to make sure air is circulating through that room not directly blowing on buds.

i suggest freeze drying instead, its way faster easier and you get tons more THC in the finished product. google it (:

That temp is fine for drying your nugs just put a fan in there to keep the air moving...

I would not use a heater. I dry in the low 60's with low 20's RH with a small fan pointing at a wall away from the plants. The first couple plants that I chopped, trimmed, and hung to dry, would be crispy in 4 days and didn't cure well.

Now I cut and hang my whole plant to slow the drying process. I also just started drowning the plants for a couple days before I put them through 72 hours of darkness and chop/hang. I am jarring/smoking one today (that went hermie and got harvested early) that I cut 7 days ago and it tastes better with no cure than all of my previous harvests did after a week cured.

mine have been drying in the basement witch is around 60 degrees ...I have the buds in a cardboard box hanging on strings ... With a fan blowing air in the direction of the box ... There's also a dehumidifier running at 40% RH ...

It took the buds about 5 days to dry on the strings in the box b4 i put them into jars ...Buds did seam really crispy b4 putting them into the jar but then after they were in the jar for a few days they were fine ...
I noticed that the buds still have a very faint grassy smell to them if u smell them 1 by 1... The entire jar smells great though when i smell the whole thing...i've only got about 10 grams left of the 1st plant harvest...It was cut down about 2 weeks ago...I should have let it cure for atleast 2-3 weaks in the jar...I am happy with the results though, it's my 1st harvest so ...

Hopefully the 2nd can cure a bit longer in the jar b4 it's smoked on ...

I was very happy with how potent it was too ...

Try hanging the whole plant next time, with fan leaves still on it, and it will likely give you another 1 or 2 days dry time. Slower is better as long as you dont get mold.
