LST? Fact or fiction? Present your case

SO I was very skeptical to stat my second LST. My first one ended VERY bad. The plant got too stressed and was just fucked. My first indoor grow only neeted me 14 gramsish because I didnt sprout enough seeds, my biggest were males, and my only female was a runt with all cola =/

SO my second LST I followed advice and started gradually making it ben t more and more everyday. After the main stem was bent down, and about 12 bud shoots where popping up like crazy (cola 13th) I decided too tie down those branches gradually and they grew up even better...

After about 50 days in veg, I am letting it rip in it's 8th day in flower! Frankly....I wanna kick myself in the ass for not doing it the right way the first time! I could never picture a grow without LST (or pruining) too me it's just ignorance and fear holding people back and I will never regret it.

With that being said...your opinion? Why.

My unfortunate first LST story is as follows. When I first read about LST, about 2 months ago, I decided I'd try it on my current grow. I picked 1 plant to try it on first, and trained it for a week as suggested, followed by a week of rest. Well 3 days after releasing the training bonds, I start to notice vigorous and explosive growth from all side branches, was seeing 1cm growth per day on every branch! Since I was getting close to cloning before starting flower (trying to start a perpetual) I decided that plant would be the only one to get trained because time was short, and I needed to start flowering soon! SO I went and cloned, then waited 5 days, and started flowering. Well, to my dismay, the plant I had trained, and had responded to it so well, WAS A MALE! Too bad wasnt one of my fem's...

Anyhow, the LST idea is great, everyone should apply it when/where possible! I am def a fan, and will be doing it again once my clones get to vegging! :)

thanks fellah :), i just kept tieng and tieng down and ended up in a bucket, im doing a small LST at the moment in smaller pots with a 4 week veg with some left normally(not lst'd) so im intrested to see the difference with a short veg

What strain are you using this time around?

i am looking for the 4 best strains that like lst as i understand not all strains do like it.

please tell me what experence you have had with diffrent strains. thanks

I LST'd an OG kush in a 1x2x2 box, it responded exceptionally well, very strong explosive growth, no rest time between trainings. yielded about an ounce with only 3 weeks veg time. Hope this helps

LST will increase yeild if done right. check out my lst thread and a few hundred people will vouch that LST is a great way to grow.
oh and dont untie the tied branches if you do what was the purpose of tying them down any way

I'm a huge fan of the LST. We actually top one time prior to starting the bending. This gives us several branches to bend down and out. We run a med grow with a plant limit. So, big plants are our #1 goal. After the topped plant has grown up about 15", we drill 1/4" holes around the lip of the 5 gallon container and tie every branch down and outward, trying to make a circle. We then veg for another 3 weeks or so, transplant to 10 gallon pots, and repeat the bending. If any rouge center branches shoots up too high and ther's no where to bend it to, I'll just cut about 6" off of it.

We also do something many people would argue against. At week 2 of bloom, I remove about half of the large fan leaves in the middle of the plant (we leave the outside ones). At week three of bloom, I remove the rest of the large fan leaves inside and any outside ones sticking WAY out. We've tried it with and without the leaf removal, and the yield when removing and allowing the light to get deep into the plant is 50% more. For 20 years I'd NEVER cut off a live leaf. A friend showed me this technique, and I'm sold on it. I think it's parti

all cannabis will react to LST. How could it not react to LST, just stop growing and die? There are no 4 best LST strains, it doesnt work like that. I've done LST on every plant I've ever grown except for autos. So feel free to go ahead and grow any strain of your choosing,

I like to supercrop in veg and I just started to LST in flower. It sets you up for a stress free transition when you transplant before flower. Check out this link for supercropping pics:

That's sweet!

I short veg train all the time. The bud to plant ratio can be crazy good. Last plants were only about 18 inches around, maybe a foot tall, and yielded nicely in a small space...Pics attached, no monster colas, but EVERYTHING is a cola. Works real well in tight spaces...

I am an avid proponent for lst! When I first started growing I thought to myself, "ok the plants shape is the only thing that's gonna get me called out--what can I do to fix this?".
Having trained other vegetables in my garden, I thought " why not?"
So I've been doing this before I even knew there was a name/technique for it.

I do it a little different though--I start just after the first true sets come in(after the cotyledons). While the main stem is pencil lead thick. I lean the whole sprout over and secure with a wire hook, pushed in until the leaves touch the soil(don't worry, they usually upright the tip within a few hours). From there I just continue to run the plant horizontally until I'm ready to flower.

This helps set up the side branches for training almost as soon as they are bendable without accidentally tearing them off the plant. (oops!!). In this fashion you can achieve a plant in any shape(spiral, square, Y, etc.).:peace:

I really like to super crop in veg.... Supercropping slightly stresses stretching branches or branches that are growing rapidly allowing other branches to increase the relative difference regarding their rate of growth. Not to mention it makes LST a cinch since the branches are already trained when you are ready to tie them down. If you haven't tried it, check into it, I swear by it. Here is some pics of my canopies from super cropping on my last grow. My current setup super crops in veg and makes a transition to a perfect LST in flower.

Last grow super crop only.

Current grow LST after super cropping in veg. I did LST in about 5 minutes for each plant when I transplanted and put into flower. Literally no stress at all and no risk for stem breakage.
