Hello,
Just wondering if anybody knows if I can use an ozone/iodizer machine within the room or within the house to cover the smell with out hurting the plants?
I would assume it would be fine, however I want to make sure before I use one. Experience with this or Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, ~Outlaw~

I really dont want to make a carbon filter, will an Ionizer some febreeze, and an open window for a few hours be fine to keep down the smell?

Complete dependent on the size, strain, and stage of the grow. For something small that isn't too skunky, I imagine that will probably suffice. For my 4 plant bag seed grow I don't think I'm going to need any odor deterrent apart from the occasional febreeze. Just make sure you're not spray the febreeze or any other aerosols in your grow room as they can adversely affect the taste/smell of your buds.

Do you live with your parents or do they just visit frequently? If your parents aren't cool with you growing in their house I wouldn't do it. Not only are the chances of them noticing the power bill / smell / lights always being on / your preoccupation with horticulture pretty high, it isn't fair for you to be jeapordizing something they've worked so hard to obtain and keep just for some bud. The government's been known to seize / condemn homes that have been used for growing (usually on the large scale but there's been a few instances where small-scale operations have been blown way out of proportion.) I would highly suggest finding a different location if it was your intent to grow on your parent's property.

Thats what i hate hearing.

I know its dangerous, but i live in the attic of my house, and I have the whole floor to myself. They rarely come up maybe 1 time a month just for 2 seconds at a time.

Im thinking about transplanting outdoors before it gets to stanky, but i have no idea if i will possibly kill the plant.

I picked up a super small ionizer and weak ozone generator off ebay.Works awsome for killing the smell from a small grow.

Actually, over the years I've used several different ones - They only last a year or two before the ozone oxidizes the internal connections.

Current one is made to look like a little UFO, with glowing lights and everything. Totally funny!
But inside, it has a tiny glass / screen ozone cell - about the size of like a sample perfume vial.

Works like 'da bomb - never had any plant problems.

I just purchased one off Ebay, still waiting for it to arrive....(3 day delivery turns out to be 9 days)...It's good for 3500 sq.ft. My dad has the same model for cig smoke in his house and it works great....can't smell it a bit.
I started out with 24 seeds and now have 24 plants in the veg. stage between 8" and 12" tall and bushing very well in soil. 12 are 3 weeks and the other 12 are 4 weeks into the grow... I started smelling it about 1.5 weeks ago when I'd walk into the house....
All are in a 2'X6' closet with doors off, waterproofed rubber roofing material 2' up on three of the four sides then 6" on the front acting as a basin for watering, lit with 1000w Hydro farm. They are growing approximately 3/4" to 1" per day since I placed under 1000w (Still on 18/6 cycle). I want to hit around 16" before switching to flowering stage..... Thanks for all your input on the Ozone/Iodizer! ~Outlaw~

I own several houses (landlord) & one of my houses had a terible fire in it last year (asshole tennants),anyhow we all know how bad a home smells after a fire, the contractor who rebuilt my house left one big ass generator in the basement & one small generator upstairs & within 4 hours the house smelled like a rain forest.

No shit, the place was still burned to a crisp & i couldnt smell anything at all, made a believer outta me,there are health risks associated with too much ozone though, as well as the chance to damage plants if too much ozone is in the air, with proper regulation you should not have any issues though.

Yep, panhead is right about some of the hazards. There is a wilkepedia article at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_ioniser Note it is contested but there are other articles that also claim some hazards.

I was thinking of going this route but am reconsidering. I live in a somewhat rural area and could possible ventilate to the outside without treating the air but think this would be stupid as Murphy's law always seems to kick in somewhere down the road.

Now I am going to carbon scrub and keep one of these in the far part of the room just in case the scrubber needs a kick now and then.

my friend used ionizer last time he grew and his bud had no smell after they were harvested it worked to kill the smell but imo i want the buds to stink once they are done so i wouldnt use those methods

Well tm, I must admit, she is a beauty! How big is the space you have her in and are you using anything else for cleaning the air?

How's it working out?

I guess one wouldn't hurt.

That was a blueberry! Im growing WW now! I will use ionic pro compact on this grow!
Im using these coz it makes fresh air for the plant not because the smell! You need to use some carbon filter for that! Right now I have and ionic pro turbo in the living room and a ionic pro mini in the growroom! The ionic pro compact on the way! The whole apartment stinks a bit with only 1 WW girl 3days into flowering!

Is this thread dead? I just got a Uvonair 3000 and I want to know if I can run it in a 1000 cu ft room for 15 minutes without killing myself???

Supposedly the Uvonair 3000 puts out 29 mg/h of ozone.

Thanks
