Constant Herming out, No ideas why....

So, I have this small problem of my plants tending to herm out at the very end of their bloom cycle. At first I did have a few lighting issues, but those got taken care of and plants cycled thru. Some plants do it worse than others, but they ALL do it to some extent. I have a 12x12 room with a 10 foot ceiling. Lights are dropped about at the six foot and a couple inches level. All air cooled hoods, six in all. 2 600's, the rest 1000's. I have 2 exhaust fans, one a 750 cfm, the other a 650 cfm. only two lights are not hooked into my exhaust. I have two box fans and an oscilating fan for in room ventilation. My lights run at night, my temperature is between 67 and 76 daily. Small light leak i had i fixed, that may hav played a small part. any other ideas?

irregular photoperiods and heat stress...not enough nitrogen to much potassium...to much red light not enough blue...shitty seeds...who knows...and worst yet, i have no idea what i'm talking about!

all i know for sure but can't explain is the strange notion the plant decided if it was gonna hermie by it's 3rd or 4th week....that's where your trouble is.

99% chance your problem comes from either a) plant stress b) light leak.
Even a small light leak can do it, and you said you had one...that's probably the cause. Do you have any lights in the room? I have heard of a person getting herms from having a fire detector in the room that had a tiny led on it that basically gave off no lumens, or actual light you could see from in the room when it was dark...but that little tiny light was enough to herm out EVERY plant in his room. Removed it, and problem solved. Make sure none of your surge protectors, or anything else in the room have any small leds. If they do....cover them.
The other possibility is that your stressing your plants out, which is a lot more tricky. It could be too low of nutrients, too high, the wrong ones at the wrong time, room conditions like temp or humidity, or a bunch of other possibilities. Essentially any plant can herm if it feels enough stress.

if hermi were caused by light leaks then why in the hell dont plants do that under moon light???? sometimes as we all know the moon can be bright as hell so i would have to say if someone got a hermi for a light off a heater thats BS

ok mushroom man, believe what you will. your opinion vs. someone's experience. there is a very good reason moonlight doesn't herm plants dude. I would like to explain to you why, it's all very scientific...but basically it's due to the fact that moonlight is not sunlight, it contains no lumens, and therefore is not something plants can photosynthesize. If you do a little research you'll figure out that plants DO NOT photosynthesize at night, full moon or no moon. And most outdoor stuff will herm, and produce seeds, just not because of moonlight.

Its the genetics. If your herming over a little light leak,You need to get good seeds. (I don't believe in fem seeds)It sounds like the grow-op is fine...

Maybe your plants feel that their bloom cycle should have ended well before you think it should, and they are just poppin a few nanas as cannabis plants often do when grown past the very end of their bloom cycle.

Thank you very much guys. Grumpy, you seem to have proposed the best solution. And the led light thing is a non issue. I checked all that before i found the light leak. The light leak was a bit of sunlight creepin into the room through a window at the back. thats been fixed, and i think that the longer bloom could have somethin to it. I dont have an intake fan, would that matter?

One problem you may be facing also is left over pollen from your old hermies still drifting around the room. I always make sure to do a very good sanitizing after any major hermie problem. Just sayin.

those are all things that could have caused a hermie monster ...

my 1st grow all 3 plants hermied on me. I dont know why either, i think it was just some bad genetics ...

Better luck next time ...

Grumpy, you brought up a point i've been pondering...when the female gets to that point, they really can self-seed and not be a hermie? Are the seeds viable? Will they be regular or hermie seeds?

Dude produce the link where you learned "the moon gives off no lumens". That is utter fallacy, moon light is reflected sunlight. Do the math, light- any light, is lumens, especially sun light.

I'm paraphrasing right now, but it was noted in "Marijuana Botany" by R.C. Clatke, that the light from a bright full moon was enough to slow or stop the flowering process for the one or 2 nights that the moon was that bright. Not hermi, but slow or stop the process.

You can call B.S. all you want, but there is a lot you have yet to learn about just how little light during the dark period will screw you up.

The trouble is that you then need to leave the plants for a further 5 or so weeks for the seeds to grow and mature, or you can collect the pollen and use on other females.
Allowing the plants to get to this late stage (if you are not planning on letting the seeds mature) can really screw your buds as you will have tons of small immature seeds throughout your smoke, which totally fucks the taste.

Any seeds produced and allowed to ripen will be viable, will be feminised and will most likely have the "late flowering" hermie trait.
