yeah temps are sketchy

My LED area is 71* lights on and 60 lights off

while my air cooled HPS room is right at 75*

I kinda feel my LED is a touch too cold but 70+ should be ok i hope... i agree though on the heater, contemplated using one but why waste electricity on that when that could power 9 more LED lights lol that would get the heat up... but cost 3k$

Precisely, I just didn't want to have an unequal side by side comparison. If worst comes to worst put a reptile heat rock in that tent or something to equalize the temps. 71 with the lights on, but how long does it take to reach that temp? The plant will prbably spend much of its time in the mid 60's. Thats almost a 10 degree difference, that will def come through in the growth rates.

Yeah I never really notice how long since I'm at work when they come on but in sure you're right. These leds don't put out much heat. Wonder how much growth difference there will be with a 10° difference. Like you said, probably mid 60° most of their time under lights on

question for all of you since i'm planning a grow in a cabinet and using led so heat isn't an issue i won't need much ventilation but smell control is my main concern, so i'm considering a new model bathroom exhaust fan to vent. somewhere between 50 and 110 rating. they run at .5 to .7 scone so very quiet and i know a 4 or 6" inline will be loud in my cab. will those have enough power to pull thru a filter?
no one has any input? really? also concerning temp discussion i know they take longer in colder temp and it can affect the color in some types but how is quality affected? taste? thc level? how does colder grow impact this?

i would recommend posting in grow room design and setup... dont think many people here are real smale scale like that, no offense. But most seem to have extensive gardens and lights and not really dealing with bathroom fans. I use for example use 10" 500+ cfm fans so cant really help you out much

I tried this and used two different growing spaces. The problem I had with with the temperature. The LED grow room was at 61-64 degrees, and the HID grow room was at 80. Needless to say the LED was lagging behind quite a bit as the plants metabolism was much slower. I just mixed them both together in the end. I was contemplating buying a heater but they used like 1500W, so I just tossed the LED and the HID together. I love the results...

My Kessil lights seems to be keeping the temps higher than a panel alone at about the 80-86 degree range but on the coldest nights I have to pop on some 68w CFLs and i'm in the perfect range.

Kessil has COMPLETELY resolved my complaints so soon as I get this replacement light I'll quickly be back on track and just trying to figure out the most discreet way of posting some photos. I'm thinking about a new cheap camera and upload them from a internet cafe or on a campus computer if they don't block this site.

Update: Because of my problems with Kessil's light I had to disrupt my all Kessil test grow with a panel to make up for the malfunctioning light, so now I'm shooting for an ALL kessil flower cycle. On with my update,

3 weeks this friday on the (6) Cotton candy kush and they are looking just lovely and so healthy!! On sunday the (5) Sour D will be three weeks and is a bit slower but coming around and getting bushy. I will have my 3' x 3' flower tent set up with 3 magentas ready by the weekend to begin flowering Monday on most of the cotton candy, and sour D. Meanwhile I'll take a couple clones off to start a couple more. This will make room in my 3' x 4.5' veg tent for Wednesday night, when I will be introducing 10 lovely 12 week flower ladies, I forget the strain. The lady they were taken from has tops the size of my forearm, so I'm excited about that, and 10 jack flash under a 126w panel and 2 purple kessils with a magenta added later that I pull from the flower chamber an replace it with a Kessil flower booster in the 3' x 3' flower chamber. If the flower chamber starts to get crowded I will switch it with my larger 3 x 4.5 veg :) Lot's of work this week.

hey, j, yep, the initial startup costs, concerns over energy usage, etc., led me to go small scale. perhaps in the future...
The best part of LED is that they are so much easier to move between two flower rooms on opposite 12/12 light cycles. When one is lit up the other is dark, then instead of turning you LED off for 12 hours simply move them to the other chamber. Think about it!! You flower for 12 on in one room, remove the lights and close it up so they can do their 12 off. Just move them into room # 2 and only turn them off long enough to move. that way you are making the best use of your LED units. This is my goal by the summer :) that's 2 rooms on opposite 12/12 literally flowering all 24 hours of a day!

A smart way of doing 2 crops at once and maximizing your grow equipment.
It's a good idea and I hope that you are able to pull it off.

^^^ wow man i hope you have impeccable timing 660nm420, i know for a fact i'd botch that up somehow, so happy to have digitally controlled timers handle that on/off business, now if only there was a simple way to have the light move to the next grow tent once it's turn off automatically?

Simple, cheap and effective. Yes its a bit of a pain but for the savings well worth it. Nicely played. Good luck :-)

there are a lot of small personal growers on here actually...

I think the rule of thumb is 2 air changes per minute, if you have an idea of the dimensions of your cab, do the volume calculations and compare that to the CFM of your fan. I'm not sure how much the filter would restrict on ya, but aim high (like 3 changes/minute, assuming 2 is correct) and you should be happy, the plants will still finish in colder (~65F) but if you plan on using CO2 the heat should be 75-80 degrees. It'll still be really good, but the main thing to seal in your taste is to flush before you harvest, hang dry naturally (don't rush drying), then cure slowly and properly in glass jars. The normal dry and cure is where the taste sets in right. bongsmilie

My avatar pic is from a Strawberry Cough plant that was at Stealth Grow LED's booth at last years Medicinal Cannabis Cup in San Francisco.
The plants were very strong and healthy, but I will say the buds did look a bit leafier then usual.
I've followed a few grows with their gear over the last year, and my conclusion is that they make quality lights.
Here's another pic that I took at their booth.

I'm thinking of ways to retrofit the top of two 4' x4' or 5' x 5' tents to automatically move my light configuration every 12 with a timed light mover. The tricky part is how I would separate the two chambers well enough that the lights from one chamber doesn't leak into the other but allow an ease pass through from one to the other. I found some great prices on grow tents on this website. http://www.ledwholesalers.com/store/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=87 Two 4' x 4' tents are under 200 + shipping and two 5' x 5' s are under $300. I figure for a few months it'd be alright if I have to move them myself and then I can buy more lights :) Once i come up with something to do it automatically, I'll have them up for sale.

You'd have to cut a large flap out of the sides and overlap it with pieces to keep light from escaping run the light mover between them

Yep! I am in a bit of a jam with my Kessil test grow, already experiencing a problem week one my purple full cycle light is only emitting RED and I am still testing the veg. I got caught up by the hype and glossy website dumped $1200 and just want my money back now. I really wish you would have posted this a week ago! URGH!
I'll never see that G again. Bought four Kessil MAGENTA (at least they started out that way) that I bought thinking they could enhance flowering but I'll never know because now they only emit a red. So much for a magenta spectrum.

Watch what these guys do toward the last minute of this video. After seeing this I think I'm going to do a little experiment on my Kessil's but I don't think I'll be putting my hand in the tank.
