Would my VENT FLAPS cause LIGHT LEAKAGE??

Hi - i've got a budda room grow tent - it has 3 vent flaps at the bottom of it.

The temperature when they are closed is like 95-100 degrees :-( so i definitely need em open.

The issue i have is that when the flaps are open, light from the room the tent is in will leak in and f**k up the flowering cycle :wall:

Surely, the people who made the tent would have known this - there is a mesh under each flap - would this mesh be light-proof somehow?

Any advice is more than welcome - peace :leaf:

If the vents are open light can get in if you don't try to block it.

If you are at 100 degrees your vents will not do shit, you need to physically remove the heat and get fresh air in there, there are plenty of good ideas of how to stop light. Use google, I will post some ideas after I look. Good luck JR

Use light traps. You can make them with 90degree bend ducting or even as ghetto and simple as a shoe box. With ducting you want at least 3 90deg bends to prevent light. If using a box follow my shitty diagram below

put 3 inserts in the box each with a gap for air to pass on one side and attached directly to the wall of the box on the other (you can make these out of wood or sheetmetal or what ever you have on hand not just a shoebox) This will allow air through but not light. Make sure to use non reflective materials. If you use reflective materials such as sheet metal it's advisable to put some sort of non-reflective material on the inside of the box.

You can also simply tie a thick sweater or some heavy fabric to the end of your light trap, it'll allow air in but not as much light, and combined with the bends you won't have any light leaks provided you attach it to your tent very thoroughly.

If its 100 degrees when the lights are off you need to find a way to cool your whole room and tent. if the lights are on who cares if the vents are open. a very small amount of light should not hurt anything.

Many of us have our lights on timers because we can't be there to turn them off and on at the right times. Same with the vents. Now if someone could figure out a way to put vents on timers. Perhaps a system where gravity pulled a hinged vent closed, but a fan(s) on a timer would overpower gravity and open the vent.

Your in your room, with the light on more then 12 hours a day? Wow...

Change bulbs to green and it won't effect it. Or just change your cycle to on when your in your room the most.

I grow in a tent, in my room and I just never go in the room until light on which is almost bedtime for me. Light off after I wake up so I can water etc. I keep blinds and curtains closed at all times to keep room dark.
