1st Grow - 25 Plants - HELP PLEASE! Lighting Question – Optimal Yield

For OPTIMAL YIELD is it reasonable to have five(5) plants per 1000watt HPS lamp? Will there be enough light for each of the 5 plants in the space provided by each light? Would you recommend fewer plants per light? Should I add another 1000 Watt light and go 4 plants per light? Would the difference in yield be worth the added costs of the extra light (hood/lamp/ballast/electricity)?
- OR -
Going the opposite direction, is five 1000 Watt Lights for 25 plants overkill? Could I even increase it to 6 plants per light without it affecting the yield or the other 5 plants? What is the cut-off point of diminishing returns?

I'm definitely going for top shelf high quality and high yield, but don't want to waste money unnecessarily either. Thanks in advance for the knowledge!

Necessary Info: 25 plants (Indica OG Kush), soil grow, well ventilated, (5) 1000 Watt HPS Lamps, CO2 generator.

I run 11 one thousand watt hps between 2 houses. I run 7 plants per 4by4 tablee and pull a pound per light. Get the xxl hoods they have a gud spread

Look I'm no pro grower not by a long shot but I know enough to suggest that you do some additional research before you begin your operation. You said you don't want to waste money unnecessarily and doing homework will help with that. But in answer to your question I believe you could do 25 with as low as two 1000w hps but 3 would be comfortable.

Im a go big or go home kinda guy and I say if you got them and you can afford the bill go for it just veg them up big and you will yield like bill gates:)

25 is my prescription limit, otherwise I would. Don't want to start a nonprofit co-op/collective...want to keep it all legal and no headaches from the PD

Room is 12X12....nothing is set in stone about the room design, that's why I'm here. How would you set it up? How would the light rails/light movers be arranged? What's a flood table? I'm told that the CO2 generator may be a waste since I'll be moving so much air to expel the heat. Any advise is definitely welcomed!

hey there iow, ok, how to say this, do you understand what five thousand watts of potential energy means, the amperage running through your walls? the heat generated? the mother fucking bill hoping thats not an issue, the nute control, the amounts of water, CO2 waste beacause of air movement? it sticks like cum iow chemistry, keep the wallet in the pants, use the mother fucking eyeballs and ready like a crazy cunt, move those fucking lites! the sun moves! more accurately, at least for the last couple of thousand years, the earth moves around it, so dance the fuckers and lower the wattage, unless you find a way of moving the growing surface to be more earthly accurate lol, abide dude abide, hows ur temps and rh? pax

Check this other thread out. The gurlz are doing nicely for less then 1/2 the watts and you can actually touch the lamps.

IMO a better way to go if you can afford it. They cost a bit more then an HID setup but the lamps last for over ten years.

Just fill in the other thread when you have the time. I don't think you're pissing anyone off. Being new around here we can make allowances... nah wah eh meen?

The dude does abide after all...

We'll get you through this. I'm determined to get you into a coco mix before it is all said and done.

Keep it coming Koi! This is why I posted. It's becoming abundantly clear that light movers are the way to go and will allow me to reduce the number of lamps needed. I've budgeted for a huge electricity bill, but if I can reduce it I'm all for it. If I install light movers, could I go with 3 1000Watt HPS and not sacrifice yield? I haven't started this grow yet so I will be doing my damndest to keep temp & rh at the optimum.

P.S. what's "iow"?

Scizzors, what's your opinion on light movers? If I were to use light movers how do you estimate yield per light? Thanks for the tip on the xxl hoods

if it where my 12x12 room this is what i would do i would do a full sog grow with 4 4x4 flood and drain hydro trays and do 2 1000's on light rails the trays would be end to end making basically a 4x8 tray out of 2 4x4's on ether side of the room leaving a good 4 foot walkway between the trays light rails skimming over each 2 trays with a 1000w bulb on each side i would go all perpetual 2 week harvesting so first tray is freshly rooted clones to two weeks second tray 2 to 4 weeks third tray 4 to 6 weeks and final tray 6 to harvest 64 plants per tray 2lbs per 2 weeks but if you are trying to keep plant counts low prably wouldn't work for you just my idea lol.
