Okay so ive bought a package deal consisting of the following:

1 * 600w Futuretech Magentic Ballast
1 * Euro reflector
1 * 600 w Sylvania Bulb (dont think this is actually what I received)

My problem is the cables provided dont add up and im pretty sure some wiring is to be done. Here are some pics.

Vertical view of my reflector.

Light fixture back and cable that came with it.

Better view of light fixture.

600w ballast and its cables.

I imagine the 3 wire ended cable goes into the light fixture? Not sure how exactly but that leaves 2 females to go into each other?

Basically my problem is the cables supplied dont add up so help me please RIU community :weed:

the white cable with 3 loose ends should attach to your fixture, the female end of that into the ballast and then the other female should attach to your ballast as well and from the ballast to your socket?

Your pics confuse me more than anything here.

Sorry if the pics are bad. I get what you are saying. I dont understand how to do the wiring into the light fixture with the white cable. However the ballast has the same wiring done and a female coming out. That would make 2 females meet which obviously dont fit. The other is a plug on the ballast.

ok connect the 3 core flex into the lamp holder prob connecter on fitting blue to N brown to L green/yellow to E or to a lug on reflector,
Mount ballast somewhere or put up on shelf out the way better to keep it outside grow room it gets hot.
2 cables coming out of ballast plug one into a socket ( u might wanna invest in a contactor and timer, seriously a 600w HPS magnetic ballast plugged straight into timer is dodgy as) Anyway the other cable out of ballast will plug into the mogul socket on flex u already connected to lamp holder...... sorry for writing a novel :)

Something not right there...

With the white cable, use the blue and brown to connect to your light socket... There should be 2 screws that you can loosen and then insert the wire and tighten back up....

When buying a timer.. Make sure its a digital one other wise it will blow the old round click ones..

It doesnt have to be digital it just has to be able to handle the amps drawn by the light. digital vs. old school has nothing to do with it.

Well then there must of been something wrong with the 2 old school ones then and then why do they recommend using these with old school timers..
have a look for yourself....http://www.getupandgrow.ie/acatalog/Relays_Contactor.html

I was using 250w and was blowing them, whats a 600w magnetic ballast going to do...?

Go digital Physical... not much more in price differance....

This is the one I got for free when I bought a second hand ballast..

hes given you the wrong lead from the light hood to the ballast, the one from the ballast to the light is a male and the one from the light is a male, tell him you want it changed for a female which the male can fit into. you could run a long cord your self if you want straight from the ballast to the light if you have a long peice of spare lead. i got a euro wing aswell and it was wired with a black male cable. physique pm me where you are from if in dublin and ill find a place where you can get the right lead, wont cost much.
lu
