First Grow: Are My Girls Looking, Okay?

those are big plants....Lets hope you made it rain on them good and they start responding. Still got time but you can always take a close up pic and the crop it to magnify the trichs. You need to make sure you are using water that is pH to 5.8 to make it rain and then give your plant both nutes with some molasses. Need to get them girls fat. Like if they were to eat some donuts!

Been using distilled water for the whole grow... and will be getting some molasses probably in the next day or so for use when I water again Thursday morning. -Mandi

Man those trees are looking good Making it Rain will definitely fatten up those buds even more before harvested and it flushes all those chemicals out of the soil so when harvest time arrives, you won't have to worry about the 2 weeks flush most growers do before harvesting.

Can you tell how much time they have left by the closeup of the bud I posted? I still don't have better than a 5x magnifier - plus I've never grown before, so I don't have the experience to tell just by the 'look' of them. -Mandi

Chief, do you harvest when you reach half amber hairs, or do you wait longer? Saw your Blue Mystic is doing well - mine is too finally. The four colas are responding nicely now, and I have another AK48 and a Short Rider that are keeping up with the BM. I'm trying to do some research on drying and curing, so in a week or two, I'll know how to handle the 'AK trees'. -Mandi

Is it okay to give my girls molasses in every watering/feed that I do until harvest? They've just passed the 7 week point in flowering, and I figure they have another week or two left to go. I gave them their first taste of molasses in their thursday morning feeding, and they'll probably be ready for some 'rain' on sunday. -Mandi

Hey Manditroy, yes I harvest when the hairs are 50/50. Your trees are going to yield you a whole lot of weed Check out the Harvesting & Curing Thread, also Rastadred helped me with the harvesting and curing process. Keep those leaves for hash. I had never had hash before. When I harvested the BMs, I used the leaves to make hash. It was some goooood smoke I'm definitely using the leaves from both the BMs and the Master Kush. Looking at the pic of your bud, I would say you have 2 weeks. You have some amber hair but when you get 50/50, I would start the harvesting process.

Chief...how much do you mean by 'a whole lot of weed'? LOL I'm reading lots on harvesting and curing now. I guess I just want clarification on what to trim off as waste, and what is usable. I don't want to throw out anything worth smoking! I also have no clue how to make hash, so I guess I can add that to my research. I'm planning on cutting the upper buds when ready and leaving the lower stuff until it catches up more. I have three lower buds that I've pollinated, so I need to leave time for the seeds to mature. -Mandi

That should give you plenty of weed That's a smart move harvesting your plant in 2 parts, letting the bottom half continue to grow. I had no clue either about hash, nor had I ever smoked it. Save all leaves and trimmings with resin on it. Put them in a zip lock bag and freeze them until you are ready to make your hash. Let me tell you, the hash from the Blue Mystic leaves was WONDERFUL.

Yo Manditroy, I have never made seeds before but I hope to learn. There's a thread for everything marijuana on RIU, check out breeding. Whenever you trim your buds, before or after they dry, just freeze the trimmings.

I've read some on the seed making - enough to get the girls knocked up on the three buds I pollinated, but since I've never grown, I don't know how to tell when they're mature. I got a 30x lighted scope today, so I will be able to get a decent look at my trichs now. I was making due with a little 5x, but it really isn't enough for a newb like me to tell what color things are. I'm getting more amber hairs, so there is visible progress and they're at 7 1/2 weeks and counting...

Here is a look at my baby Blue Mystic (born on Christmas...awww). The first pic is shortly after topping for 4 colas, and the second is just six days later. She's just over four weeks veg now, and her and her two nursery mates (another AK48 and a Short Rider) will be put into flower when they get to 6 weeks. By then, I hope to have the first AKs harvested and drying. Does she look okay?

Your big plants seem to have a Sativa Dom to them....well in my opinion. If you been Flowering those for 7 1/2 weeks the will prolly need another 3 weeks. I flowered mine for 75 days total. You will be surprised when the start swelling at the end. Let those girls flower more bro! They will let you know when they are ready. Hope all is well, been busy at work. Just coming in and checking out your girls. Let see some fresh pics of those girls...LOL

Don't think I can handle pics at the moment...I'm effed up on a test sample of my very first ever homegrown!!! I clipped one small bud several days ago and just fired it up a half hour ago. WOOHOO - I think this is gonna be some niiice stuff in a couple weeks. -Mandi

Your plant looks so strong. How did you get the stem to look so healthy and strong? Did that happen before you flowered or after? I am wondering how long I should wait before letting mine flower. I think If I flowered now my plant may fall over. lol.

what size pots are they in? did you say 2.5 gallon? How tall is that plant?

Yeah Chief, I've been watching your Joni and friends too. She's bigger than mine right now, but the topping I did is growing back very nicely (all that growth you see is from just six days). The other two nursery mates are growing four colas as well...I hope they're all girls! -Mandi
