Split air conditioner help

So set it up to be always on. Then let the tstats turn it on/off as needed.

Seems pretty fucking stupid to have to do this, but if there's no other way there's no other way.

Something in the back of my mind makes me think there's an even simpler way to do this... but even as-is it's certainly cheaper than a growroom controller.Untitled.jpg

Edit: to be clear, this is shown in the night position. Sorry my drawing skills are pretty shitty.

their sealed. without the ac the room will run upwards of 90. problem is that that timer will only work for 24 hours. so i could set it to turn on in 12 hours or whatever and then the next day, id have to redo the timer again. im trying to figure out if theres some sort of universal remote thing i could buy or how i could get it to automatically run the desired temps i need.

There really isn't a good way to operate that unit the way you described. In any case, I'd just leave it set for 70-75 degrees. Thats still hot enough for CO2 to work it's magic and cool enough to get multiple colors in your weed (i.e. purples and reds). I'd be more concerned with your daily highs and lows in temps and your overall average. A 70 degree constant room would mean your highs and lows would 70 degrees and so would your average. Thats kind of a money number.

If you wanted your plants to be 80 degrees in the day and 60 at night (which seems too cold to me) then you'd average 70 degrees daily....I'd just leave the plants at the 70 degree average all day and night. Consistency is king!

im unsure on how they tell the indoor unit to be at 60 degrees or 83 degrees.

The AC is set to be always on. So the power to the unit is controlled by the thermostat - when you get to 60 degrees or whatever, the thermostat cuts power to the AC and it's off.

But you should consider what Ronjohn says as well.

I see. Yeah, ive been leaving it at about 72. I wish they made some kind of universal remote control thing to just send the signal to it when i want it to raise up. that would be cheap and effective.

I'd add that if you're growing a strain that stretches a lot, keeping the day/night difference low will help with that. Since this thing is a pretty powerful AC you could potentially implement a dump, which is a one or two hour period first thing in the morning where it's actually a lot cooler than the night temps. Do this during the stretch and you'll end up with some very compact plants. Don't know if you need to do this but it's worth thinking about.

hrmm, so your saying setup an intake/outake system to pump in/out air for a couple hours after the lights go off?

Believe me people would kill to have their op stay at 72 degrees all day long. Thats a money number. Thats totally optimal for growing. 70-85 degrees is a good range to work with. 85 is pretty safe to stay at if you're using CO2. Plants will use CO2 at a faster rate the higher the temps are. Thats really the only advantage to higher temps. Overall though cooler is better. Higher temps make your plants loose water..which cause more RH in the air...which could cause mold if you're not on top of controlling your RH. Trust me just leave your op at 72 degrees and call it a day.

The lowest temp I'd run at is 68 degrees and that would be at night. Would you honestly like to sit in a 60 degree room? I don't think so. Thats really cold. Whatever temps are generally comfortable to you are comfortable to your plants.

ok, sounds good. i was just worried that 70 for the dark was too high, but the more i think about it, I grew up in hawaii and that shit is 70 degrees at night all the time. Thanks so much! Thanks everyone for their help.

yeah no shit huh, well considering its a huge dehu, thats why i wanted to be around 83, so it didnt do too much work while the lights were on. im hoping it eliminates the need to run dehu's as well, as i just started with it i'll have to see if they are neccessary. but right now its too early to tell.
