I need to know what the best rooting nutrient is for seedlings in DWC. I'm going to use rapid rooters in hydroton in net pots. For those that have success with this method please let me know what nutrient works best. Thanks. :weed:

rapid rooter is the best stuff out and way better for the planet then rock wool good choice you should get really good results with all your seeds with that stuff. As far as nutes seedlings dont need any nutes. You dont need to start using any nutes until maybe the 2nd week of growth some people wait till the 2nd set of leaves start. Its on you, but i wouldn't give them any nutes before the 2nd week unless they show signs that they need some.

Thanks for the reply. So you think i will be good germinating the seeds and when they pop, i should put them in the rapid rooters. Then immediately put the rapid rooters in the net pots with hydroton, making sure the water level is at the bottom of the net pot. No nutes? + rep

scuba you can just put the seed right in the rapid rooter no need to germ in something else. rapid rooters have enough moisture to get them going. water up to the bottom of the net pot with lots of bubbles and you will be good to go. I have had great success with this method and no chance of screwing up the tiny root on the germed seed.

I will try this method. Do you pinch the hole at the top of the rapid rooter after placing the seed in it? How long until the seedling pops above the soil for you? Thanks for the advice skinnyone. + rep

I pull loose pieces of the rapid rooter off and just cover hole. It varies on the seeds popping up but for the most part its 4-7 days until I see them unfold.

What I do is germinate the paper towel method. When the beans pop I put them in the rapid rooter plug and inside my dome/tray for plugs. I put about a 1/4''-1/2'' of PH water with my T5 on 24 hours of light. I wait untill roots start showing in my plugs and start drinking the water in the tray. Then just carefully take the plug out and insert in your net pot with hydroton.. I had very good results with this last grow.

I germinate the paper towel method and within a few days to a week you will see a sprout ..

I myself start using nutes on my plants right away! I start with clonex seedling and clone feeding solution day one, and after a week I start introducing nutes at 1/8 strenghth and by the 3rd week my little ladies are on full nutes, I have great results.

I am going to attempt this also to see what works best. I usually don't put a light on until the sprouts strip the seed shell. What is the advantage of leaving it on before they sprout?

The clonex clone gel? or is there another nutrient that is added to the rez for rooting?

I really like Technafloras Awesome Blossoms as a starter food. 5 ml per gal. along with a few drops of Superthrive....all I feed the first 2 weeks.........

I'm a big fan of superthrive or a little dose of liquid karma as well. Superthrive will increase rooting during the first week or so.

I spent allot of cash on root excellerator this round, used in in week 3-4. It worked pretty damn good in my system. Put clones in 4 gallon hydroton bucket and I had roots shooting out of the bottom of the bucket at the end of week 3. Neccessary? don't know, probably not but wanted to give it a go.

you can do that or like the other guy said u can just pop the seeds in the rapid rooter you cant screw any thing up that way and imo its faster and nope you don't need any nutes yet not until at least 14 days and even then you don't need full strength. every thing is dependent on you though and what works for you grow and learn and learn and grow good luck
