Hi guys,
I'm revamping my growbox for one plant, making it a little more pro.:hump: It's gonna be made out of 1/2" ply, 23"tall,15"wide and 16" deep, matt white paint on the inside with one door for access. Lights: 4x20w cfl bulbs lined up on a moveable bracket for easy adjustment and 2x9watt bulbs for seedlings + sides. Dnt know whether to add fans and a carbon filter, as it only one plant as the room i have it in has some draughts and i only growing one plant so i might just use air fresheners for the smell. Growing orange bud i've decided! I welcome any improvements or tips anyone can make, and advice on how much orange bud plants smell!!! Thanks guys!!!​

i think you will need an exhaust fan even if it's only one plant..
you going to have to get some air circulation in there.. and even though it's only cfl's if the box is closed it's going to get hot in there..

Ok thanks, dude! It's just I read somewhere that if you only have one plant in a box just opening and closing the door twice a day would be fine?

i read it too, tried it, and the temps in my box got really high.. maybe in a big cabinet..
i know i had to get exhaust fan in there other wise it would have gotten above 90 in there..

DB's right, you should get a fan in there, but its not too big a deal. Sounds like about the same dimensions as my box. Im using one 3" fan (picked up at radioshack for like 25 bucks) and a 3"by3" passive intake and its more than enough. Small boxes are easy to ventilate, and since the size is what it is, you dont need a fan inside oscilating, the movement of sucking air in is enough to strengthen the plant.

If you live alone then you dont need a big ol carbon filter, you dont really need anything if you dont care. If not, then you could make something out of stockings and activated carbon and string it up so your exhaust fan pulls air through it.

What are your lights like btw (what kelvin [color temp])?

mvnugs, my lights at the moment are just 2700k but i gonna buy 6000k 65 watt for veg. where do you put your intake? I'm starting the build next week so will post pics when it is done!!! Is your van a pc fan, if so how do you wire it up?

put your exhaust fan at the top of the box on one side.
the exhaust fan will suck out all the hot air that is building up at the top of your box.

at the bottom of the box on the opposite side of the exhaust fan cut a small hole (about the size of the fan.. a bit smaller will do) and this will act as an intake hole while the is sucked inside with the help of the exhaust fan.

you want fresh air inside the box at all time.. not just to cool the temps. so it's a good idea leaving the fan on at all time..

Is it worth it to have a fan pulling air in, instead of passive? If temperature is a problem would you benefit more than passive?

it can be better then a passive intake as long as the exhaust fan is at least as twice as fast as the intake fan.
otherwise it will only make the temps in the room higher!

hi, this is my box i just finished building!!! hole at the back is an exhaust fan. I've now transplanted the seedling to a 8" pot. I'm getting two 105w cfl bulbs, should be coming next week. one for veg one for flower. Let me know what you guys think + any improvements!!!!:weed:​
