Hey ROLLITUP.org !!!!!!!! I have a couple questions, Can you grow a plant only 1 foot then flower? Can you grow a plant with 52 watts worth of cfl bule light all the way through its life? I plan a outdoor grow when it warms up but untill then i thought id try to grow a small plant so help is ... Helpfull

i dunno about all the way thru there life cycle i have 2 that im got that im vegin under 2 cfls for next 2 months or when it warms up to put them outside im hoping it works

It is possible to do the whole process with one light, but you will definatly be dissapointed in the results. the clfs can work great for veg stages and sometimes flowering, but the quality will be reduced. for flowering most people recomend a HID with more of a red spectrum. hps produce the the most red spectrum lighting and come in multiple watt sizes. not sure the smallest but I think you can pick up a 150 watt hps from home depot.

Thanks Loco. I think ill VEG 5 plants for 10 days then go 12/12 Iv recently read that people have gone 12/12 from a sprout before so i think it will be cool.

You can also buy CFL's suitable for flowering as well. You will be able to finish the plants life cycle but there's nothing wrong with buying at least a little bit more light. Besides the more light the better the plant the better the bud right?

fyi while your just tryin things .do u have a mother?take a cutting thats about your optimum veg size and put in into aerorooter root in than straight to flower ...thank me later

I don't have a aerorooter and i just put the little seeds to sleep in their new box ^^

aerorooters are a waste of time, and money... and that guy must be a salesman to even mention that to you.

Yes, you need a good light. MH or HPS will be good. If you grow all the way through with fluoro you won't get much bud.

The amount of light you give your plants will show in the amount of bud you get.

I swear by CFL and against HPS. I've never used HID or MH lamps tho. You can get just as good if not better bud from using CFL's in the correct amount as you can from an HPS. I agree with Skunkushhybrid about the amount of light you give your plants shows in the amount of bud production. But that doesn't mean you can't get an excellent grow from CFL's.

HID's have a better lumen to watt conversion. so you get more bud for your buck(your electric bill). but if you do have enough CFLs, reflect the light properly, and keep them very close to your plant(s) you can get some nice buds. ive never grown with cfls but i heard that the buds arent as dank(tight). you also have more points of light(with the cfls) so your plants arent leaning towards one hot spot. from my reading people usually use cfls when they have a small setup/cab grow or something. just my 2 cents. good luck with your grow. Sorry Grim, just personal preference. Out of 20+ grows, I feel most comfortable using CFL. I used an HPS instead of CFLS on one crop and was so disappointed with it that, at the end of its pitiful harvest season, I packed it back into all its original packaging and gave it to a buddy of mine. Turns out this buddy ended up tossing it as well.
