Carefully?
Seriously? That is not constructive because I could "carefully" climb mount Everest. But we all know there is no way that's happening. CFLs are great to learn with, I started with fluorescents, but they are not practical if you are running more then a couple plants.

As I said before, try "lolipopping"(or what ever the hell you call it) your plants. It makes an unbelievable difference. If you've tried and it's not your style that's fine. But it does not ruin your plants or destroy your yield like many people suggest.

Seriously if you wanted add light under the plants on a table I'd go with long shop lights and just rest them on the edges, not with cfls. I like you lollitop my plants.

ok ya got me, I've posted a couple of comments, that I myself have NO experience in! I only felt the need to reply cuz , i read from more than 1 source, that said the same thing. And I'm just reiterating it from the "pros"... that said I understand where your coming from, nothing speaks more than exp itself.

Shit! i just broke my postingfast, I'm not supposed to be posting because I'm A NUB!

But lets say one of the gods of knowledge like "Stinkbud" isn't around to answer a question, that I already know, because i lurk like a good little boy, and someone desperately needs this info immediately.
am I supposed to let the person hang there for week or more, so one of you so called more experiance pros can get around to answering their question?

I hear ya. You see these threads that go unanswered all the time and you want to help. Link them up. If somebody is really in need of help that much they can read a 15 page tread. But you know I don't really expect people to do it, I'm just challenging people to hold themselves in a bit more if they can. Who the hell doesn't want to help people?

Earlier this year I saw a woman talk about cloning in the dark and people gave her total shit about it. I asked some members to run a test with me to clone in darkness, just for fun. Dozens of members came out to talk about how it wouldn't work, would be stupid, would make shitty clones but we did the tests anyway and everybody got roots in normal time non the worse.

If you don't know it first hand you don't know it is all I'm saying.

Ok..

I will try this.

Speaking from at least a decade of personal experience... You are a troll. And you are the worst kind of troll which is one that simply is bitter and rarely funny.

Since I have extensive experience in this field I expect you to agree with me completely.

I understand, a lot of people think that. I'm not a troll, but the way I define troll is somebody who can take on characters, sometimes polar to their believes in the attempt to fuck with people. That's not me. I believe in everything I say, I'm sincere with the things I say, but I don't see a lot of acceptence of people who are not of a certain mold and so they call me a troll.

But I don't follow people around, I don't hold grudges, I can barely remember most people. Change your avi and I'm lost. But I do swear a lot, and I do talk to people like they are my friends, and I do tell my friends they are full of shit if they are full of shit. Never a problem. I just think some people need to smoke more and take shit a lot less serious like. Who the fuck cares if I think somebody is a dumb-ass, doesn't mean I don't love them.

I feel ya there.I to like to ask people from exp and if they never tried it how can they vouch for it..Just because they read it from someone who read it??

I feel sorry for people who feel the need to label people trolls to be honest. I understand it's a game for some, to see if they can point out trolls, or label people. That is not a concern for me. I don't try to figure people out. Not my idea of a good time. I believe in their sincerity. Well NLCSKI wants to play zelda and point out trolls to people I'm still trying to the best of my ability to help people and maybe make them laugh a little. But like I said, ask me a question and I'll give you an honest answer, never been anything but honest with people. But I do understand the need for some to label people, it's inbred in humans it seems, to point out the different.

is that what it seems to you? I guess you won't take the challenge then, no sweat off my balls. If you had noticed I don't say soil or hydro is better, they are both great.

Everyday I see people give advice they read somewhere and don't actually have experience with. The problem is that it's the net folks, a lot of what you hear isn't true, some of it is half true, and some of it is true but unless you have experience in what you are giving advice on you don't know.

So take the challenge, don't give any advice unless you've had the same problem, use the same products or have experience doing something.

example of a often repeated myth

"spraying your plants with the lights on will magnify the water droplets and burn your plants"

half truth

Without a wetting agent the water balls up and the water can evaporate leaving behind condensed salts which then burn your plants. If water droplets magnified the sun the planet would burn up every time it rains. You can't burn an ant by putting a magnify glass right on it can you? No you got to hold it at the right distance and focus the light. But I probably read people saying that everyday.

So please, resist giving advice unless you know personally.
Speaking from experience ...

Hosing soft leafed plants on a sunny day in Summer in Brisbane (Australia) can result in damage caused by the light being magnified by the water drops ... definitely been there & done that.

It does depend on the light intensity and how long the drops stay beaded on unmoving leaves.

Natural rainfall usually happens when the sun is obscured by clouds (just like Pink Floyd) and the light magnification just does not happen.

Outdoor plants are usually moving due to air currents and the droplets don't normally sit beaded on the leaves waiting for the sun.

But speaking from experience I have damaged plants by overhead watering during full sun.

It's because there is no wetting agent and the water you're using has an E.C. Nothing to do with magnifying, but with a hotter weather the quicker the water evaporates leaving behind the salts.

I don't know how long it takes for water to either be absorbed or evaporated from a plant under HID but it's not that long. 15~20 minutes. Water pools up on many surfaces, if it burns plants with heat it should be able to burn other things as well but it doesn't.

In order to burn the plant the plant has to have hairs on it that can hold the water droplet off the plant, giving it space to focus the light, some plants can, not weed.
