how big of a container are they in? i'd go any where from about half a zip to a full zip per gallon of container size for each plant...
btw, they look nice.. congrats on the first grow..

these plants are on week 2 under 12/12. I have two 400 watt hps coverering a 2 by 8 foot area, feeding them foxfarm big bloom, any idea how much I might yeild, this is my first grow, not sure the exact strain,
Plants??? I see Plant.

If everything goes right, probably around 100 grams or so. Expect 3 ounces and be happy if you get more.

sounds ok, I would like more, I have a friend who says he gets close to 3 ounces per plant "white widow" thats my goal, im vegging white widow now so we will see, I need higher watts in lighting, maybe a 600 watt, that would yield more bud right?????

You are looking for about 9 ounces of bud you can do it with that setup so long as everything goes well and you have some serious canopy. Strain will come into play as well.

In that space what I'd recommend is running two DWC buckets and some Serious Seeds Chronic for maximum yield. Veg the plants to fill a screen 2 feet wide and 4 feet long (but try to "bend" it around the shape of the bulb) and if you have a magnetic 400w ballast switch to a Phillips ceramic metal halide bulb for start to finish. Don't do anything crazy with the nutrients. Botanicare and General Hydroponics have what you'll need, the Lucas Formula is tried and true and you can get a lot of info on it online.

You could run two plants and pull 5 ounces off of each in maybe 100 days from seed in one of these systems without too much effort.

I think you could invest in your space a little bit. Maybe more ventilation, a tent, or some mylar.

Isn't it three plants?

I've explained how I reached the estimate I've given. Most new growers yield 0.4 to 0.5 grams per watt with reasonable exception for high yield strains like Chronic or OG #18. There are a lot of factors involved with yield predictions which makes it really just a guess in the dark. I pulled about 240 grams from my first 400w harvest in Fox Farms soil using their nutrient system and was unimpressed. A follow up grow in coco yielded about 340 grams despite some setbacks.

Considering experience, genetics, system, environment, and lighting... hitting 0.5 grams per watt means you didn't blow it. You didn't quite nail it though. Short of CO2 supplementation and environmental controllers ($1400 minimum investment) breaking 1.1 grams per watt means the grower has quite a bit of experience with a high yield strain or just got damn lucky. Many growers do break 1 gram per watt without CO2, but this usually involves a fairly savvy vertical system to increase canopy size and minimize energy loss. The largest 400w grow I've ever seen was Serious Seeds Chronic grown in a Hempy style drip system that incorporated hydroton and rockwool mini cubes in place of perlite and vermiculite. The grower used Canna Substra drain to waste and did a single plant in scrog yielding 450 grams. The grower had been working the same strain in the same space for years, and this was his best harvest as he'd usually pull closer to 10-12 ounces.

So, for new growers I say to aim for 0.5 grams per watt. If you happen to get more, and you easily can, then woo hoo! Expecting to hit 400g on a 400w bulb when you've never done it before (you have to ask what you're yield will be) is just a set up to be disappointed. Any grower worth their salt with some experience with their signature strain should hit 10 ounces without much trouble.

can you really estimate a gram per vat index ?
what about pot size and veg time ?
as far as i can tell, the longer you veg the bigger your crops (if you give the roots enough space to develop of course).
