I made a real newbie mistake

This is my first grow i got my seed to sprout everything was going fine its about a inch tall in 4 days it just lost the seed case that was still stuck to it and the cotyldons were exposed and i waited another day and they were still pointing up so i decide to push them down a bit and i broke one off and its been about a week and a half and the one thats left is vertical and it has not grown up anymore and it has not grown anymore leaves its as if it just stopped growing completely yet the stem is completely healthy and the one leaf is a lush green so my question is do i keep trying to grow it or is it just a total loss from my newbie mistake?

well if you paid for the seed let it grow. you dont have anything to lose with keeping it

ok then ill just keep trying and hope for the best and yes i do need to keep my hands off but its my first grow so its pretty exciting and hard to resist

Sounds like you just shocked the plant by taring off a leave, it most likely is probably healing itself, which is why it is still healthy. I'd give it about a week or two and you should see some growth, what do you have it under? Light wise.

2 100 watt cfl's totaling 3400 lumen's 4 inches away and my medium is coco coir temp is 78 and i am not using any nutes at this time

Yeah man, definitely just sounds like shes a little injured and is taking a little time to fix herself up. You shouldn't be hard on yourself, accidents happen, just next time don't finger the shit out of her, be gentle with your babies, you get better results. :P

Don't give up! Do you know what strain it is?

ya the strain is nothing special just some high middies i got off a friend i might buy seeds soon but i want to get a few grows under my belt and get the hang of it before i go and buy seeds because i figured i would make bad mistakes like this

Understood. If I were you, for your first grow, and sense you only have one plant, i'd suggest getting a 200w+ hps for flowering for best results for it. It may run you a couple bucks, but worth it in the end. I'd also suggest attitude seedbank for seeds.

how much are you talking about when you say a couple bucks and can you put hps in a regular lamp or do you need a whole system for it because im running next to broke so i dont want to spend to much money on systems until i have alittle more experience then what i have

I've had to help the shell off on quite a few occasions. You just need to be VERY careful. In my experience, even damaging the cotyledon usually causes it to die and significantly stunts growth. Usually a pair of clean tweezers and a light tug is more than enough. If it takes more than a light pull, then it probably isn't ready to come off anyway. It's kind of a shitty situation either way. I've had a seedling that I tried helping the seed casing off and in the process damaged the plant. I've also had one that I DIDN'T help it off and it ended up choking off a cotyledon, damaging the plant. Both times the plant survived, but was definitely stunted by almost a week if I remember correctly. I feel like that's one of those judgement calls that come with experience, so don't feel too bad. Like you said, it was a free bagseed.

lumens dont add but they do spread, so you know. if each is 1700 lumens, then you have 1700 lumens, but you have effectively spread it into various locations by adding more lighting.

the coco I have heard can be tempermental. if you continue to see nothing after a week, you may want to transplant into plain soil

you can also get a 150 HPS for a little less, and that should be fine for 1 or 2 plants, but CFL's work well for getting your feet wet
