air cooled lights or hoods with no glass??? which is better???????

i have six great white hoods with no glass an 1000w hps bulbs with a mini split ac to keep room temp around 75degrees a day.... i heard glass on the hoods restricts lights by 25% ???is that true??? jus curious if i willget better yeild????? let me kno!!!!!!!! thanx

although 25% seems high it's up there. I'd rather have none if possible as it also filters out some of the UV light to.

no, it's not true that glass reduces light by 25%. glass reduces light by 1/2% for each 10mm of thickness. So the reduction in light thru glass in a hood is pretty much negligable. But if your grow room is fine without glass, fine. If you have to use a glass lens, you are still fine. It is pretty much a moot point.

how many BTU minisplit? I'd say 18,000-20,000btu is where you want to be.

I run hoods with no ducting and a mini split and I'm fine.
