I've always wanted to keep a tank with a shark or two, but I don't know how expensive that would be.

Here are mine.
An 80 gallon fully planted with many schools of small tetras and a 30 gallon fancy goldfish tank.
I am going to upgrade the 30G to a 70 or more in January.

You're gonna need a much bigger tank, and soon. Full grown oscars need at least 55 gallons each to be comfortable, and pacus get to be absolutely HUGE.
yeah, the jack dempsey's been with me for about 3 yrs but the other two i've just acquired in the past yr or so. i think i'm going to sell them all back to the fish store and going with a planted tank with some small schooling fish like dude has up there.

...when you say "big" pacu...I hope you realize how BIG that fish will get...lol...because that is a baby pacu.

I have a 220 in my shed...I moved last year and had to part with some fish , I haven't figured out what to get yet...I've had fish for most of my life and love the hobbie...I used to breed Jack Dempseys, those things lay eggs like crazy........oh , that pleco gets big too...lol...I had one that was 16" and eating goldfish:-P...so don't think they'll only eat algea...those things love meat

oh i know man ive been keeping fish for years, that pleco is about 7 yrs old, he's about 13 inches. the pacu is fairly large right now lol, he was almost dead when i rescued him from a friend. when i was in brazil, the hotel i stayed in had huge aquariums in the lobby, and there were some pacu's that were every bit of 2 and a half feet from belly to back. I know i'm gonna run out of room with them soon, i need to get rid of them really. i had a 300 gallon for a few years and it just got to be too much at that time to take care of with my schedule. i wish i had it back now.

I had a couple black pacu and 4 red belly pacu...the black ones will eat grapes and mellon, crazy shit...they got huge in a 110...tank size won't stop a pacu...lol...my favorite was a redline snakehead, before they got the bad rep....he was 4" when I gotn him and he got to 38" in 3 years...now that fish could eat.....30 goldfish for $1 and his tank alone went through $6 a week, sometimes more!...cool fish though, more like a pet than any others...he always watched me and followed my every move...like a puppy...lol
good luck...see ya
