400 W HPS Failure

I started flowering my Bubblecious gals last Friday and I'm afraid I'm killing them. I've tried everything my small room will allow and I can't seem to get the heat under control. 88 F seems to be as low as I can go with the HPS light. I vegged under a 4', 4 bulb T5's and I have the bulbs to flower under. I'm wondering if it would stress the gals if I took the HPS out, put the T5's back to work with flowering bulbs. I know, I know, I'll be giving up a lot of yeild and my buds will be lighter....but I don't want to take any more chances of killing them. It's my first grow and I want it to be as successful as possible.

A friend of mine grows in the death valley in California..not the hottest area of the desert but still hot. He does good smoke.

I would try to keep the plants lower temps, but if you have good circulation and the temps dont fly up and down then I would consider staying with the HPS.

The hps will not kill them at 88f if you are referring to the light being to close to the plants then yes if you dont have the proper room (distance between the light and the plant) pull the hps out then. BUT if you are simpily thinking 88f is to hot no your fine!

Sounds like you need to figure out a better heat exhaust method

I've got good circulation of air......I was thinking the higher temps might kill the plants or stress them into being hermies. They don't look bad at all. It's just the damn heat. I have a fan blowing fresh air in, one circulating in the room and an in-line fan with a carbon filter blowing the exhaust out. Wonder if a small computer fan hooked to the light fixture, to keep it cooler, would help....or would that be too small

id say get a normal house fan , throw it into the mix , make it shooter just a bit over the plants and push that hot air out of the way

88 degrees is nothing. I gre bubblelicious in my closet and it would routinely hit in the low 90's in there in the summer. I had a great yield with huge Bubble gum buds, some 20" in length. If you lowered the ambient temp of the room, you'd be better off. A window A maybe?

Hey,,
Just as an idea why not try adding some co2 to that heat. plants can take more co2 at around 85F,,just an idea.
You could use fermintation. 1 part yeast to 2 parts sugar to 4 parts tepid/luke warm water. smells like a brewery but pumps out co2.

It seems the wide temps I mentioned are more likely to hermie a grow than stable high temps.

No windows in my grow room. Its basicly a closet, about 4' wide by 6' deep with 8' ceiling. My light is about 18" from the tops of the plants. I've noticed they are drying out a lot quicker under the HPS light than the did under the T5's. Also, any suggestions on when I should start shooting the Tiger Bloom to them? I was thinking I would feed them every other watering, once I start with the nutes.

If your in flower now you can give it to them give them big bloom with it. Every other watering as you said and check that ph and BOOM..

i say put it 2ft from it, i was burning my sprouts when i had it at 1 ft from it XD LOL , oh wait... 400 hps? ya 2 ft.
