apaver Species :somniferum" (opium poppy) and can get a pound for around 5 bucks. The pods I had were very small and each one had at lest 20 in them so 1000 really isn't much... but enough to start growing 
Poppy seeds that are papaver somniferum all produce the same opium latex when small incisions are made on the head of the closed flower so where it's from doesn't really make a difference, now some species I heard can produce higher wanted recreational alkaloids in the opium latex such as codeine and morphine but people can easily buy whatever species they choose online. An if you don't have a credit card you can simply go to a grocery store in the US and buy around 400-600 grams of name brand poppy seeds that are papaver somniferum for around 6 bucks. You might be able to get more from someone who isn't wise on the subject of opiates and growing poppies but I'd just make some tea with what little you got and smoke with some ganja it'll help make ya nice and relaxed if you have no opiate tolerance.

Yes I'm pretty sure I remember reading that McCormick brand Poppy Seeds are Papaver Somniferum which will yield opium latex when grown and not sterile if that's possible. The seeds contain trace amounts of morphine and codeine alkaloids on them if they haven't been thoroughly washed before being packaged for sale. If you get around 300g worth of seeds and soak them in hot water and strain the seeds (or not if you like drinking seeds...) you can achieve a slight morphine high.
