It's never going to be legal

Every ballot legalizing marijuana was struck down this year. People have been trying to legalize pot for over 40 years (actually 50 or 60 years) and it never has. The closet it ever came to being decriminalized was Jimmy Carter and that was over 30 years ago. Also it's been 16 years since California's Prop 215 and only a handful of states have medical marijuana. Maybe pot will be legal one day but it's certainly not going to be in 5 years. Especially in places like the South and Midwest, states will just pass laws criminalizing it again. Obama doesn't even support legalization, and very few national political figures support legalization. It's going to be at least 15-20 years.
A handful of states mojoe? 15 is not a handful; it's 30%. You say that they've been trying to legalize for 40 years, but when has it ever been on a ballot before? MMJ started out as a ballot item in one state, now we have 15 with it. For the reasons I stated it will happen.

That's the whole point. Why hasn't it been on a ballot? Because most people don't smoke pot, or care about it generating tax dollars, or what the media thinks about weed. But like I said before, when it was on the ballot this year, it was struck down in every state. That doesn't sound like forward progress to me.

pot will be legal once someone tells the law enforcement to STFU and find a new career. but this is rather challenging in todays corrupt american government.

ehh wrong.

it's never been considered to be legalized because everyone always considered cannabis to be a hardcore drug. Or a "gateway drug" (..pfft please.)

but yeah, that's the real reason why its never been on a ballot before.

People are starting to actually realize that smoking cannabis, is actually less harmful on your health as nicotine from tobacco. That's an actual fact.. its been proven by scientists in an actual lab. ;)

So, I have to disagree with the idea of cannabis NEVER being legalized. It'll happen.. as its not a matter of "if", but a matter of "when".

peace.

I think most everyone in the past 30 years knows pot is not that harmful. People just don't care and aren't going to vote for something that doesn't benefit them.

That's California though. The rest of the country is not California.

Those of you sitting on your asses moaning that pot will never be legal again can get off your asses and do something about it. Hook up with your local NORML representative and volunteer some time, or make a donation. Offer to sign a petition and if asked, ask for signatures. Do not think legal marijauna is just going to happen. It will take educating the voters and reminding the representatives that they have a job because of us.

Mojoe555, here is your first step to getting off of the bitching couch and actually doing something about it.. www.norml.org

I'm sure others can point you to other resources as well. There is a national MMJ org out there somewhere as well if you want to focus on MJ for the ill.

LOL ok once more: The reason it is on the ballot now is because A. baby boomers taking over, B. No longer a threat to industry, and C. $$$

whoever said it would be legal in 5 years has a fundamental misunderstanding of American politics and government. Politics and government are basically the most inefficient use of resources ever, and lengthen the amount of time required to complete a task astronomically.

Consider it like growing a single autoflower with a 1000w HPS. You could accomplish the same thing with a 150, but you use the 1000.

It's actually worse because there's a good chance you'd use incandescents and hire 40 people to fart on the plant every day.

The OP was probably more right than anyone.
