What happend to 12/12 from seed? Why are they stretched so much?

Because I had to transplant them into the party cups and I wanted to give them some room to grow so padded a couple inches of soil at the bottom so they sat up high right after the transplant.. I should have started them off straight in the cups but this should still workout for a decent yield and next time I know :) I did have to steak them because of this though.

Stretching is one of the problems that occurs in plants suffering from the root-bound condition. Regardless of being started from seed on a 12/12 light cycle being root-bound they will stretch. Being in party cups means they will stretch more because they will soon be, if they are not already, root-bound.

Humm I didn't realize that, thanks for the info brick top! In this case there definitely not rootbound "yet.." I transplanted them after 20 days and they actually seemed fine, I'm sure by the end of the grow the roots will build up pretty good though.. Thats why I gave them the extra room by adding the extra soil in the bottom though.

yea thats a new one on me also, i didnt think a root bound plant would cause stretching..
care to expand on that post brick top?

you always say some pretty fly stuff, but i think ill have to disagree on that one

the plant is probably stretching from the 12hrs of dark it getting

I found this... seems plausible.

The nutrient blend that helps a plant reach its optimal size and shape – nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium (or NPK) – also causes them to grow beyond that optimal size and shape, if applied in the wrong proportion at the wrong time.

Plant stretch occurs when you continue to apply nitrogen in the wrong form, excess phosphorous, and inadequate potassium. These are the nutrients you need to control in order to avoid plant stretch.

Also, I founf this quote in another forum which echoes Moash's post above.

"poor light is generally the cause of stretching when your plants are in veg. It happens naturally in flowering because of the 12 hr dark period"

Definitely makes sense. They like to stretch in flowering no doubt about that! I'm not sure they will get much taller so once they start to fill out they will look a lot better I hope lol..

Ok, here are my bag seeds I have put into rockwool. I have 13 seeds and plan to end up with 4-6 girls in the next few weeks.

My little abused party cup LoL I almost feel bad for this bag seed. I've knocked this cup over at least 4-5 times already! Moved it this morning to a better spot in the room so we'll see... Still kickin' though!
