Here is basically how mine is setup now, you just need to figure out how many cfl's you need/can fit into what your going to be growing in.

This setup uses fixtures mounted to CPVC and wired in a series (meaning power to fixture, fixture to fixture, etc till your at the last fixture.

Some people opt to use power strips and grab the light fixture plug in. But most power strips will only be able to fit 3 CFL's maybe 4 CFL's if your power strip is big enough.

Hope this helps you some.

No offense, but if you have to ask how to hook a cord up to a light fixture then you should probably have someone do it for you. but....... it seems like you plan on doing it yourself so just be careful.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2fp5lp4OFk p.s. this pretty much applys to hooking it up to a bare cord that you would plug into the wall, in case you didnt plan on tying this all in to your breaker box (which I really really hope you don't plan on doing if you have to ask riu how to)

When you are done, be sure to post and let us know you are still alive

ok so your saying that everyone who nows how to set up a light fixture just magicly new straight away how to do it? no of course not they would have had to ask and research it themselves and thats enzactly wat im doing.

And u said, "if i had to ask riu" ... isnt that half the point of this site though, to gather information on growing and setting up?

And thanx monko ur reply was wat i was loooking for, none of this shit saying that because i had to ask im gonna burn my house down.

lol not a problem, and yeah thats what this site is about, sharing information to make us all better growers.

I used lamp cord cause it can handle all the watts you need for a small grow, and its easier to handle. The cord I bought had a +++ or ---- on one wire of the cord, I used that for the white wire to make sure I kept it the same through all the fixtures.

All those parts for this I bought at home depot and menards. Could have probably bought them all at menards, but went to home depot first and they didn't have the light fixtures I wanted.

Good Luck

wow i totally wasn't trying to be a dick. It's the fact that it's electricity.
ELECTRICITY IS DEF NOT SOMETHING TO PLAY AROUND WITH IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
for christs sake settle down man. riu is exactly for learning how to do things. but hooking up electricity for the first time is something you should do IN FRONT OF someone who knows what they are doin. All i said was be careful if you intend to do it yourself. I got zapped 3 times in my 1st yr being an electrician. It's def not fun. So please don't take what I said the wrong way, just trying to help you out in the most logical way possible (oh ya you ARE welcome for the link by the way).
Just cuz someone told me how to build a space ship wouldnt mean I would build it without a professional around (i at least wouldnt take it for a test drive).

And don't kid yourself, I have personally seen people, who were being careful, get put in the hospital hooking up basic standard light sockets, as well as light switches, and wall outlets. All it takes is blinking or not knowing what you are doing (or a loose connection, exposed connection, etc). If you think it's not so dangerous then why is it one of the best paying jobs in construction?

Good luck with all this I wish you the best. Hope your grow is successful as well (in fact if you start a journal I would be very interested to check it out, free of my commentary you obviously don't want). I'm not here to be a dick, and I wouldn't say anything if I didn't know for sure what I was talking about.
