They uploaded funny.... out of order oh well. 1st and 3rd pic is a small closet that is 2 feet deep by 3 feet wide. The 2nd and last pic/4th is of the back part of a different larger closet. The larger is 39" x 29" just the part shown. I plan on putting mylar on the surrounding walls and hanging the light from the shelf. I want to use 2 or more fans strategically placed so that they best keep the area cool and the plants healthy :D
I will do a soil grow and make a mixture of FFOF and LW maybe full Light Warrior in solo cups to start off the seeds in. So basically I'm asking the most experienced growers if I could use the smaller 2x3 closet. Or have to move all my stuff around out of the other closet, or could I push it all to the other side? Would the light be too hot for the smaller closet? Surely it would be fine in the larger closet with a couple fans??

Buy a different door and cut holes in it to vent the room
You mean cut the closet door on the smaller closet and grow in there, then replace the door when I move out? I would rather just grow in the big closet and scoot all my crap to the side lol... or pack it into the small closet to make room for growing in larger closet. How much heat does a 400 watt give off really?? I will do Co2 in 2 or 3 2-liter bottles to take advantage of higher temps, or the lack of being able to get lower temps ;)

I can tell you for sure, a 400w mh or hps will bake the plants in that size area if you dont vent it. Remember you want to keep temps below 90, and perfect is mid 70,s. You also need to be able to get fresh are in, as well as hot air out. If you cant get you 400w light within 12-18 inches of plants your wasting alot of lumes. Also make sure the room is light proof, light leaks will cause problems. In that area I would have opted for CFL's or T5's as they dont give off much heat. I suggest you go pick up Jorge Cervantes Book, Marijuana Horticulture(most major book stores sell it), I have it and it has been very helpfull......has lots of easy to read info. good luck.

Thx matt I want some quality bud though and I had a friend do a grow with 150watt and I was not impressed :wall:. I will put it in the larger closet with mylar on three sides. That should work fine, I think :?: I hope. They should get plenty of light with the mylar and all but in the larger closet I can have more airflow and take care of the heat. Hell I can even leave it open with the light on, and then close it for the dark hours only 4 dark hours per day with the autos. Thx for your help

Just because your friend bombed out doesnt mean u will. Its not about the watts, its about the lumens and how you use them.
Mylar is a good but Panda plastic is better IMO, it reflects light really well, its easy to clean, apposed to scratching up your mylar, and it wont let light escape or tear.
Your working in basically a 3x2.5 area, this is not alot of space, how many do u plan on growing at once?
In my opinion, i wish i would of had someone tell me this when i built my closet the first go around.. Get a grow tent, proper ventelation, then worry about your lighting. Dont cut corners, and do your research before you choose lighting, T5's and CFL's can do the same as a MH or HPS, its all about strategy man. You can make a few CFL's work to your advantage depending on how creative you are.

Good luck

I had this same problem with cutting holes in a rental building, I solved my problem with a lot of duct tape and two sheets of plastic(can't remember the name but its the plastic stuff the looks like cardboard) I have pics on a fourm I started today I'll post a link later

K well his nugs were very few, leafy and trichome production sucked sucked sucked.... I dont have the option of grow tent and ventilation and all that. This is a stealth grow in a closet. Thx for your post though, I have already ordered lights for germination and a 400 watt hps for veg and flower. I plan on growing autos all autos... probably no more than 6 at one time 4 to 6 plants. 55,000 lumens / 4 to 6 plants means plenty of lumens to the plants. Trust me I have researched and researched, this will be in a large closet so the 400 wont heat up a large closet, thx on the panda film I have heard of it but never looked into it, now I will. Im sure with a couple fans and surrounded by panda film mylar or some reflective material the plants will be very happy :leaf: I will use weatherstripping to make closet light tight.

sounds like your on your way to gettin' it solved. It helps a great deal that you are doing all autos. You are going to HAVE to vent the room in someway, but you should be able to get away with popping a 15 dollar box fan right in the doorway in sucking all the hot air out, like whenever your just putzin' around the apartment, (and the lights are ON obviously) I got away with doing something similar to this. Def gonna want a small fan **oscillating** to blow across the canopy, and a big fan suckin it all out into the air.

Hope this helps!

I will use Panda film it is cheap on ebay, less than $30 for two 10'x10' rolls!! That will light seal it and be reflective on inside as well as a reflective/protective floor covering!! Going to be a pain in the ass to hang by myself though

never paid for panda film personally, always just got some shrink wrap material for free from a boatyard, stuffs bright white and very durable. other then that you can't go wrong with white walls...white is idk what's the number? 80% reflective or something

Hey brother glad to see your sticking around, I would just paint for reflective reasons but I'm doing the panda film for light tight and stealth + a thoroughly clean grow room. I have a ton of ideas. The room is about 18 squared ft, I will have 10' + 10' feet of panda film so 2 ft overlapping for a door in and out should be very light tight and I was thinking I could vent through the overlapping layers and it remain light tight. Like using fans from cpus several placed right into panda film or be lazy and set up a tower fan so that it is blowing hot air out through the overlapping pieces

Idk if they list the percentage but im sure it is 85% to 90% i don't know if this is sunlight supply or hydrofarm brand or some other. Will be easy to keep grow room sterile, light tight and most important for me stealth ;-) I don't want anyone finding my grow
