College Students: Summer Grows

I'm starting this specifically for those of you who are going to school and also growing to either make some extra bank or just to suffice your needs for the year. I'm a freshman this year and I'm looking for an idea of what strains you guys use, methods, etc. Thanks, and as always happy toking

a northern lights strain. but they get tall.. hmm. go to attitude and look for some that say liikeeee "good for first time grower" or something like tht

You would probably want an indica dominant strain that completes the flowering cycle in 8 weeks. Are you growing indoors? If you are growing outdoors it is another matter. Are there height restrictions? These all need to be considered. A soil grow is much more forgiving for someone new to growing. Some of the advanced hydro and aero grows require a larger investment, can require more time and there is a learning curve. Happy Growing.

no its all soil, all outdoors. i just need a strain thats potent, produces a good yield, and finishes early enough for me to harvest before school (or atleast before it freezes here in my non legal state). and theres no height restrictions, skies the limit.

m39 is supposed to be a very high yeild, and if your growing out dooors it would be fucking ridculose how much marijuana u would get, guy at my shop said one of his buddies grew to 6'5 and i was like dayuuuum (ohh and it takes 39 days to flower)

do a dwarf or low ryder strain.

u will just have to plant several plants to get enough yield for the whole year.

In april im planting 10 lowryder x ak 47 seeds, 10 jack hererX ak 47 and then another 10 seeds that are random free seeds.

the dwarf plants will give me an early harvest so i can have something to smoke over the summer, then the other plants will get me through the rest of the year since they yield lager amounts.

so i have a short term fix and a long term.

and just picked up some chemo and redhair skunk seeds tooo, fdd made a thread were he colors the bud with food coloring, if u did that shit you could up the price and make alot of $$$$

Look for strains that claim to finish in early September.

For you, finish time seems to be the main factor.

Trying to pick between strains is like choosing a special grain of rice, out of a 100 pound sack of excellent grains of rice.

What I mean is, pick what works for you.

if i wanted to veg in my dorm, how bad is that gonna smell for the rest of the population. my nose sucks so i can never tell even when i toke in here :p. and has anyone heard/used the super autos? they have higher yields and are supposed to be potent.

Good point. Unless you grow all auto strains, at some point you are going to have to go home to harvest your plants since most colleges start the fall semester mid/late August. No strain I know will be finished by then.

I just responded to a thread like this the other day, and don't do anything stupid like trying to start them in your dorm room or something. College ends the first or second week of May, which is still plenty of time to grow even from seed.

My suggestion would be to have all your shit ready. Have the seeds purchased and the soil and lights at least picked out by the time you move back home for the summer and start the day you get home. I'd recommend growing them at LEAST 3-4 inside if you can before moving them outside if you can. If you don't have spots picked out (I'm assuming this will be a guerilla style grow) you can use those couple weeks they are growing inside to find your spots. Whether you grow in buckets or the ground and all the other details are up to you. Since I'm guessing this will be small you are probably going to want to use feminized seeds. No sense in taking care of say 10 plants, which is a lot of work, only to find out come late July that half of them are male.

and i think the whole auto thing is out, i'm gonna start looking for early harvesting plants (early to mid september)

-side note: is anyone from the midwest here?

Dude I so wanted to grow in college but I had a fucking JAMAICAN roommate, who DIDNT SMOKE WEED. wtf?!??!

It would be very safe, you just couldn't drink/make noise/give RA's a reason to search your room, which is ez as fuck. All the electricity you could want.

As long as you kept your trap shut, only had your roommate know about the grow, and never invited friends over it would be chill, but then again it sucks to look like a loner and have noone hang out in your room in college, you'd have to play the "weird antisocial study kid" which you probably dont wanna be in college, unless you want to pass LOL.

ps: northern lights is an ez to grow strain, potent good yeild, NO SMELL. I dont get why ppl stray away from strains like northern lights, NL is some pretty bomb ass fuckin bud.

I grew NL from Nirvana this summer and it literally had no smell at all. Even after about a month cure it still doesn't really smell that much. Just a subtle, kind of sweet smell. It's #1 on my list to grow again if I'm ever in a situation where smell is going to be a major factor.
