Who says you can't have big bud with CFLs?

Second time doing CFLs just a pic of my Purple Kush after I harvested it. Flowered my clones 2 days after planting them (had to rush) and put both the lights and the watering on an automatic timer for 8 WEEKS! Did my thing and came home to this :bigjoint:

Did four plants, four strains Bubba OG, Lemon Haze, BananaXBlue dream, and Purple Kush.

Purple Kush came out the best and Bubba OG looks really frosty:leaf::-P Had to go out of town for awhile but didn't want to stop growing so I had to try it out. Got around an Oz from the Kush, and about 1/2 from the Bubba not bad for not doing anything

not bad. looks like lots of trichs on the fan leaves in the second pic, but why is there an incandecent bulb in the first pic?

While harvesting I was looking around for a common item to show the size just happened to be one on my table for some reason :bigjoint:

I grew 3 nice plants with nothing more that 4-t8 full spectrum shop lights & 4-t12 Grow spectrum shop lights. Got 3-2 cup size mason jars full but it did take a long time to finish. abuot 13 weeks of 12/12 for N.L. #5.
The only thing was the buds (although VERY good) tended to be pretty airy, not hard & dense. I was told that was because of the lights I used so I have upgraded my lights a little to include 2-150 watt HPS in the cabinet. Its 2' deep, 4' high & 4' wide. 2 fans running.

I got the lights for next to nothing so I decided to use them. The grow is about 1/2 way through... I figure about 4 weeks left so then I will be able to see if the lights made a difference.

If I'm not impressed with the difference, I may just take them out & install CFL's all around the box.

Hopefully the HPS's work out for the best though. People have pretty strong opinions on here about lighting.

Good luck to ya & enjoy that bud, bud

What I did is I hooked up a pump to a timer that was set to run twice a week for 60 seconds. The pump ran into a container that I premixed with nutrients which I set the incline of the tubes and the time so that the plants got about 1.5 liter each feeding. I used drinking water mixed with a low amount of nutes and some bushmaster to control the vertical growth and I put a net between the lights and the plants to protect from damage. I also placed 4 high powered bulbs around the plants just far enough away not to burn them. Anticipating growth I used kabob sticks and placed them around the plants for support and to guide the growth. (The fans were on timers too so that the box didn't overheat.) On the 6th week I had someone put plain drinking water through a different watering system and the nute feeding shut off automatically (put just enough water in for 6 weeks). During the seventh and eighth week they got no water which should make drying easier

It was 6 oz wet so I'm guessing around 1.5 Oz dry?

Nice work I am subbed. I have been trying to think of a way to pump water to my soil so I don't have to do it, and this looks like the perfect thread. CFLs are the shit, and they save money. Love them. Incadescents are outdated and just.... nasty. My house is decked out with 6500k CFLs everywhere. Makes my mood happier, and I am ten times more productive. I think being exposed to this spectrum is so good for a human being. It is almost like the way plants eat light. I believe we might, in some form or fashion, eat light for our own personal gain. Either way, nice looking plants! This is so perfect because I will eventually have to step outside and leave for sometime. Perfect man! +rep

Don't have any pics but its this one http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=202017048&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_sku=202017048&ci_src=14110944&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googlebase-_-D28X-_-202017048&locStoreNum=486&marketID=6
and the timer is this one http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=100685874&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_sku=100685874&ci_src=14110944&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googlebase-_-D27X-_-100685874&locStoreNum=486&marketID=6

Fill a bucket mix the nutes weak so not to shock the plants put the pump inside and connect a 1/4in hose to the pump and run it to the plants. Set the timer to twice a week for one minute that allows for about 2 liters of water per feeding. If that is too much set it to once a week. (I had all of my plants in the same planter made it easier to run to multiple plants spit the hose. (homedepot guy can help with supplies) Make sure to test the pump and see how much it pumps in a minute. If it is too much even on the lowest setting raise the arch of the hose. Good luck and hope this helps will post pics when I can :bigjoint:
