Temps too Low

Since the weather has gotten cooler so has my room. when the furnace turns on, there is a vent that brings in warm air however the thermostat is on the main floor. my room is in the basement.

Lights on it is 63 degrees. Lights off i am not even sure as i don't go in and wonder around in the dark.

Is this too cool? I have 15 seedlings sproted and 2 mothers right now. They look fine but I'm trying to find out if the growth rate is gonna really slow down or worse shock them?

My hydro bill doubled last month when i had the flowering room on so having to add one of those electic mini heaters is the last resort i hope.

Any advice? Is this too cold?

63 is too cold for them. Although they might survive in it your probably going to get very limited growth as it only gets colder. I had the same problems because I was only running LED's for a while. I used a little home depot heater to heat it up periodically. It also depends how much space you have to heat up. I only had to fill a 10'x6'x9' area. The really showed improvement when I started keeping it up in the seventies. I guess it also depends on the strain though. Don't forget to keep in mind you want the temp reading right by the plants. I believe my room dived down to sixty a couple times and they showed no signs of shock from it. Just slowed growth. Good luck

Can you slow your exhaust fan down to increase temps yet still maintain adequate airflow?

There is no exhaust for this room. The Flowering room is enclosed with a 400cfm inline fan and carbon filter for exhaust. I have a vent that when i put my hand to I can feel cool outdoor air coming in but i have plugged this ever since the temps have dropped outdoors. I'm thinking all i can do is get one of those space heaters with an adjustable thermostat. Problem is they are rated at 1500 watts.

I want to conserve energy and hate to have to add appliances of this consumption you know?

well you can figure it this way. If your alternative is a 1k heater why not just swap out for a 1k light? The light will put out enough heat to keep em going, and if you do the dark cycle during the day(ambient temps should be up) the light will then help at night. And you will get more pot :p

Otherwise yeah a space heater, keep in mind they are rated to 1500 or so MAX. and they have thermostats built in that keep the temps at your setting, so the thing will not be on full all the time. Most likely you will keep it on medium and it will be on half the time or so.

Oh and you really need to get a peak memory thermometer/humidity meter. $7 at walmart. stores the high and low temp and humidity

Yea the 1000 watter would be tempting but i just got this digital 400 3 months ago. also, it'd be a little ass backwards having 1000 watter in veg and 600 for flower haha Just my thought. I guess i'll go with the space heater..

Was really looking for guys with experience growing in cooler rooms but guess thats not an option.

Dont really have many options. I mean you can insulate the veg room to keep the heat in and the cold out. You could use a propane heater if for some reason electricity is out of the question. I did the btu math and its about the same cost.

Just look up things for heating an old house, same principals apply.

I think he means his vegetative room has no exhaust.

Exactly - the vegative room is sort of an open space and the flowering room is directly beside it but completely enclosed. I've been told even those little space heaters suck alot of power so i've just decided to turn up the gas furnace. Right now its an even 70 with lights on. This should be good enought right?
