I know you leave the lights on for the same amount of time throughout the whole grow. but what is the major difference between AF and standard seeds?

Or if someone has a link to this answer.

Thanks

If you live in a cold climate where regular plants will not finish because of frost you can use autoflower strains to harvest fat buds mid summer. Autoflowering isn't very good for a regular hydro grow since you cannot clone them and keep a mum like you'd normally do - she'd flower.

Hope i helped you understand better.

they are supposed to finish faster and stay smaller...good for indoor/closet growers or people who want a quick harvest...i have 2 going right now as kind of a personal experiment to see how they go

They usually flower around week 3 and finish about week 8. Regardless of light cycle(usually 18/6 through out). But most are nute sensitive, small, and less potent than most reg. strains. I've grown a few, some good, some a waste of time.

Its a faster way to reap your own nugs, what's not to like about that? Some people who have space limitations choose autos for obvious reasons.
i just think its funny how people diss on the autos when theyve never even tried them...im at least gonna giv em a go before i diss em, i could easily do 3 plants in my cab in smaller pots and get a bigger yield but im interested to see how much faster they actually finish

I agree, don't hate on what you've never tried. I haven't grown autos ever before but I have been tempted to try one of Joint Doctor's Lowryder strains for a while.

Do I really need to taste a turd to know it tastes like shit?

I've never tried autos before, yet I'm right with kingofqueen. I've always been a 'quality over quantity' type of person tho.

for outdoor growers who only get one harvest a year, autos might be able to beef up your stash mid season

Yes, i tried autos and i was pretty satisfied once i figure why i was getting low weight on them... like always there is shit strains and good strains, for all kinds of taste... the OP asked for opinions and you guys come bashing around never having tried the thing... its just lame trolling imho.

To the OP, i like shortstuff ak47 and Mi5 from stitch, Mi5 can take a litle more time depending on pheno, i also grown lowryder2 but the yield was smaller... also you spend more light hours for satisfactory results 12 \ 12 wont cut it imo. im pretty sure you can get more with a non auto spending less energy but this also depends on various factors... if you have the space to pack like 12 7.5L recipients and 2 flower spaces\lights and one veg place you can do something like planting 12 every 3 weeks and aim to 10gr plant for a total of 120gr every harvest. This should take care of most of your needs i guess. Doing this with non auto would have you take cuttings and this might take some more time and skill but you would probably harvest more, i guess there is a downside to everything...

Quality over quantity can apply to autos... very small yield. good quality smoke depending on breeder. Its untrue to say auto herb tastes like turds when you haven't smoked or grown it ever. I'm not trying to start a flame war I am merely trying to defend a plant which cannot speak for itself lol.

Look autos havent been around as long as photoperiod strains so it is only natural they dont have as much of a following. All strains can be made out to be great or very poor depending on ones experiences with it or lack of experience. If grown correctly and in respectable conditions according to the plant quality auto strains are right at the top with regular strains as far as thc production. Ive been working with autos for the last few years and have several crosses that i would put up against any non auto any day of the week. Most of how the plant yields and its potency all depend on the ability of the person who grew it and quality genetics. A bag seed if grown right can be respectable smoke. I dont think that anyone here should down anothes opinion on a strain auto or not. We are all here to ask and learn and have a good time. My prized cross is amnesia haze x nyc diesel x lowryder. In 90 days from seed to bud it grows to 49 inch max n average yield is 4 to 5 oz of kick ass bud that any true smoker would love and appreciate n pay top dollar for. So to say just because its an auto its not worth the time and shit smoke is just dumb. They are fun and fast and experienced growers and newbs can both get enjoyment out of growing n breeding them try it you might just have fun.

yes, this. you can plant a few and get a harvest in the middle of summer when your real plants are just getting into their monster grow stage.

autos, being what they are cannot be as good as sativas and indicas in my opinion. Autos are bred with ruderalis, which in common language is known as ditchweed. It has no thc and does not get you high. It can give you a headache though. Not really the type of genetics I would want in my quality smoke. It has to have some adverse affect on the offspring. This is just my opinion though.

here is an article that might interest those in this thread:

No point .
Next please, move to the end of the line.

You should go try some new stuff.. LR#1 came out a LOOONNGGGG time ago.. Anyone can read some shit and have an opinion, anyone REAL finds out for them sleves.. lmfao..... You guys really need a new argument, not potent.. low yeild.. omfg... I have personally grown bette autos than some of the 12/12 i have.. And i have access to some good cuts. Just the fact you guys slam them shows how little you know on the subject. The only reason you come chime in on auto threads is becasue it's easy pickens on the Posts counter. Show me that you have grown them, and THEN tell me how close it is to "ditch" weed.. my lord the disinformation that goes around..

Have you even seen ditch weed? Have you even seen an auto??? The differences are more than miles friend.

@Calimeds, they flower without a change in light sched. Outdoors they mature faster than alot of strains. Done before the hunters get out. Your need will drive what direction you go auto or 12/12.

How is this small?

This doesn't look like ditch weed to me!

If not one pionered with 12/12 strains they wouldn't be where they are. So we shouldn't work with autos because why?
