Cloner That Won't leak????HELP!

So a tub whatever kind? that you put sprayers in all seem to leak around the edges. I have tried roughnecks and others but still no luck. What would be a fix for my problem? FYI I build all my pvc/sprayer lines ect... Also I find it hard to grow more than a few clones to 12" tall where all stay equal in size.. Seems even when you watch em every day that when you start to take em out at 12" tall you find you missed the one or two that took over but maybe I am half blind and just need to be more careful on that one.. But want a tub that won't leak without using a foam that hardens around the under edge of lid because other than that nothing has worked. Thanks for help.

I use a rubbermaid roughneck and drill some holes in the bottom and your pump and sprayers in this one, then put that whole rubbermaid bin with pumps into a larger bin. Now if your small bin leaks its no problem becasue it leaks into the bigger bin and its all like one big resevoir.

Well if one is bigger and the smaller is inside then which top do you use the bigger outside one? And if so the sprayers will still hit the rim of that one and leak. If you use the smaller ones lid and it leaks into the larger one then the area that is not covered by the inside ones smaller top where the holes and plants are, that area not covered will get light and it does not take long for that water to get crap growing in it so somewhere I might be missing what you are saying but don't see it as working... Have tried putting one with top and plants in lager one to catch water but it is open to the light like I said and it is a mess.. Still want to hear of a single cloner tub that won't leak??? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME???? I am about to clone all my big girls and kill them 3 weeks into flower because I have to fix the white fly issue and well tired of leaks in my clone area..

No problem I have used my system in a bedroom over a carpet for a long time with no leaks and almost 100% success rate. Works for me 100% dry..........good luck but i couldnt ever find a bin that didn't leak around the lid. Maybe you should just buy an ezcloner for 300 bucks???

So I still am lost? DO you use the big lid for the plants/netpots? Or the smaller lid with the tub that the sprayers are in??

I use the smaller lid with the smaller sprayer bin and the netpots are in the smaller lid. The smaller bin has holes in it so the water circulates with the water in the larger bin There is some light exposure to the water that is in the larger bin but this water circulates with all the other water and the pump keeps the water aerated. I transplant way before 12" tall, just wait for healthy roots, I only use the cloner for 10-12 days before planting my cuttings and never had stuff growing in the water.

So at least four nodes at around 10" will take around 15 days do you know if that would be to long for the exposed water to flouresant light in the cloner/veg tubs? Don't want to have a phylum or other crap. Have to start over this time is why I am changing. Have white flies and they suck bung hole man.. Mites are nothing compared to these four life stage buggers. Have to throw out 32 big budding plants and take clones. Easy to clean the clones not possible with the big ones...Still trying to figure right number of plants in NFT tubes in area 6.5x7x7high. Have two 1k hps and one mover if I want to use it... How tall to start flower ect. Had 24 plants finish and got 30 oz last grow but it was a forest and trimmed all the time. Big pain but want to lower number if possible without scrog. Can't get to the plants well enough to scrog.. Thanks.. Like the ass pic.. My chicks is better though... But hope you are tagging that one. LOL....

IIRC

In one of the stinkbud threads and at stinckbuddies forum, I read that a few of the guys were using weather stripping to line the rim of their totes or their tote lids.
A few others were using a thick, heavy duty plastic bag to line the inside with.

Cheers

I only use mine for cloning, If you were to use it for a longer period of time to veg, i would figure out some way to change the water once every 7-10 days at least. Shitty that you got those flyies man, they do suck. I've never used NFT so can't help you there.
And the ass pic is my wifes ass, so yeah, I'm tagging it lol.

Weather stripping does not work. Tried three different tubs and roughnecks with two types and both leaked. Used tuff stuff foam and it worked but can't open lid until done with that round of plants. tried the plastic hanging from inside but that is a pain as well just want some simple solution ? Maybe the two tub idea with the plastic on top of outer area to cover the bottom water in the bottom tub? Has to be a perfect way and I have not found it yet... I am not the dumbest person I know either so someone please give me the easy way because man this is to much work and well when you find a leak half way through a grow that you can't fix or white flies or that crap it really is like a car wreck to your happy day... P...........

Thanks,

You have probably saved me from dealing with a mess here, in a couple of months, as I'm thinking about building a cloner.

The two tub idea doesn't sound too bad. I may just cut a hole in the large tub lid, the size of the small tub.

Thanks again,
Cheers

try using a tub with a raised lid and invert it (turn it upside down). This way the top will drop down about 2 inches and block the water that usually sprays at the top edge of the tub. This has worked great for me.
That looks like a great idea +rep! I might have to try this down the road.

In looking at your pictures again I noticed your unit seems to be sitting in a bath or shower stall. Have you used it in an area that you need to stay dry and had no leaks over the duration of a cloning period?

It is obvious that you have had leak issues there. 1, it is sitting in a bath tub, 2, you have weather stripping. Want to do away with weather stripping type fixes because in the long run they fail! I have that exact tub and it sucks anus. The things are to thin and sometimes burst a hole in the bottom... Ok, so maybe another idea???

It had a leak issuse in the past, hence the weather stripping. But since I turned the top up-side down "NO MORE LEAKS". And it is still sitting in the bathtub because that is where I empty it, clean it, and refill it....so why move it??? And the 50 liter Roughneck tote is one of the thickest ones out there. I run two more like it (not in bathtubs) and yet have one of them to burst or leak. How can it??? You only need 12-15 gallons of water for it to work properly. Any more water than that and the sides will bow out and the top won't seat properly. As you can see in the pics below, this is one that sits at a veg station without the use of a bathtub. So unless you tried it, and I have my doubts you did....don't knock it. Oh, if you notice some black plastic on the ends...it covers the hand holds on the inside which have holes in them.

Wrong. And I would not take advice from someone that has cig butts on the floor next to his clones.. You obviously have filth in your area and that just is not how I grow. I am clean and I know exactly what I am talking about. That tub is not a strong sided tub like my flower tub. I can put 50 gallons in my flower tub and it will not bow at all.. That is not a sprayer inside tub set up though.. Your set up looks like a mold mess waiting to happen and what is that crap you have inside the lid?? Particle board?? Wow a mess waiting to explode.... Like I said I don't want a mess..

Turn down the pressure? LOL and what pump are you using noob? And how would clones with no roots get wet? Do I bury them in water, LOL..... Great advice I will do exactly that.. To funny.. Thanks for the help.. No one can answer this question with something that works so I give up.... But I am still curious how you turn down pressure with a pump? And how you would wet your net pots since of course it was your suggestion.. LOL.....
