2010 Revised Super Soil Recipe

Roots is packed full of food just not enough for a full bud run.
Try reading the label I have posted up on roots some 12 times now :)

Or would it be just as productive, or better, while waiting the 30 days for the Super Soil to cook, to start the Seedlings in a Rapid Rooter/Root Riot/Planters' Pride type of tray, and then transplanting them into 3.5" pots of the plain Roots Organics Potting Soil, then into the 3 Gallon pots full of Super Soil and finally into the 7 Gallons?

From what I've read on other forums sub as posted "rooting" he goes into detail about cloning but also mentions in there that you should never ever start seed or clone in something smaller than a 1 gallon pot...with that being said, I am currently in 1 1/2 gallon pots just bc it is what I had and I am showing no signs of nutrient lock or any sort of nut. def. Plants are in roots organics ONLY nothing added...my SS mix is currently cooking in my GH. So in my opinion and somebody correct me if I'm wrong start ur seeds/cuttings in 1 gallon+ container with just roots organics. Transplant at first sign of roots coming out of bottom of container into your finishing pot. Sub recommends 7 gallon pots, this is where u put your super soil in. Hope this helps

let me clarify, you start with your rapid rooters and then go into 1 gallon + and then finisher...I didn't say that but i'm assuming u already knew

Sorry Sub. I went into hydro store and asked both that work there and they were like its not needed. They were hydro growers though so they probably wouldnn't have any knowledge in this matter. How can you cook the soil when its cold out?

Yo Nate you told me you put SS in the bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of your 1 Gallon pots as well as your finishing Pots????? @Boonus I didn't put any SS in my 1 gallon pots and I ended up with a Nute Deficiency before the roots started to appear out of the bottom of the pots.

no ss in your 1 gallon pots... it will burn your babies... i just put regular base soil in my 1 gallon pots, leave the newly rooted clones in there for 2-4 weeks depending on how they are doing... some times i add a tablespoon of SS after the first week... just to give them a lil something to eat...
 
When/if I notice any deficiency in my SS garden I'll probably just add a little pureblend pro grow to sustain till i transplant for flower, but I like to veg longer than most. If anyone gives a rat ass, I dont know if it is organic but the botanicure pure blend pro grow is by far the best nutes I've used and have yet to have any problems.

Just wondering how long have ur cuttings/seeds been in the 1 gallon pots...

every strain is going to be different. if it starts showin def. then transplant. if its not ready for transplant then do a top dressing on the plant container with either just base soil or super soil. you got to try things out to see what works best for you.

sub this is my first and only question can i use three gallon smart pots if so how far to fill with ss just dont have time to veg that long thanks ps im growing from clone

This is out of the first post by sub...
Do not put seeds or clones directly in this mix. It is a concentrated mix used in conjunction with base soil. Place it in the bottom of each finishing container. Fully rooted, established clones should be placed in a bed of base soil that is layered on top of the concentrate. As the plants grow, they slowly push their roots into the Super Soil, drawing up all nutrients needed to complete their life cycle. Super Soil can also be used to top dress plants that take longer to mature.

I use this mix for a full year, just adding about 30-50% in the lower portion of the container, depending on the strain, and plain base soil in the top portion. (Base soil means your regular potting soil such as Roots, Harvest Moon, or even Sunshine Mix without the additives!)

Yes you can use the smart pots just follow Subs instructions. Fill the pots 1/3 to 1/2 full of SS at the bottom of the pots and put plain potting soil on top of that and you should be fine. With the plain potting soil on top of the SS mix it will give your clones time to grow into the SS mix.
 
I know can't put them straight into super soil what I'm asking is beings it only 3gal will the roots reach the ss to fast
