When to harvest?

Hey fellow pot heads, this is my first grow, I have 10 plants, 3 are getting ready to harvest. They went into 21 hour Aug 27, so they are around 7 weeks, and almost half the hairs are red. But I dont have a magnifyer to veiw the trichomes, I cant buy one cuz im broke as a joke. So how do I go about cutting them down? Should I wait a bit longer to see if I can see amber trichs? I can post pics but they are from my web cam and are not that good. Any help would be awsome.
PS I really wanna cut them down cuz im jonsing like no tommorow. I cut a couple of nugs of the other night and dried them on my ballast but they tasted horrible, and the high was not that great. I have no idea what strain it is cuz they are from a mother plant that I grew from bag seed.

go ahead and post pics but going by your sample i would say not ready about the only good way to tell is with a scope but i know what u mean by shortage of $$$$$$$$$

Another week or so before the fortnight flush I reckon...so about 3-3-and-a-half weeks

Sweet, thanks for the help. I grew these with no bloom nutes. And they still turned out pretty good.

it will look ripe from trichs turning amber will look worm colored like a honey type hew to it insted of white

n nature they grow with just water also

Yeah tru enough, so I should be able to notice to amber color of the tichs with my naked eye?

harvest you wont see trichs will need a magnifyer glass or something you will see the worm overall color of bud when not ripe looks like ther is a mh light on it when ripe looks more like a hps light on bud has a worm glow to color
