I have been thinking over the past few weeks...
If my clones are clones, of clones of clones of clones... then my strain must be suffering somewhere.. I notice the vigor is not what it was the previous two rounds..
I got the strains in clone forms.. both clones from the same guy who has had the same strains going for a while now (almost 10 years with the same genetics.)
I am going to keep the clone-mothers of these plants (Purple Kush + Hindu Kush) I threw all of the clones into the flower room.
All of the plants seem to be developing a calcium or magnesium defeciency.
It has got to be this Sunshine mix #4 because I never had any of these problems when I was using Pro Mix HP.
What to do... What to do...
I flushed a few of the plants to see if this makes any difference.
I was going to hit them with the grow formula, but I am not too sure if this will help them any.
Maby I will do this to 2 of the plants and see if this makes any difference.
I started to germinate a whole bunch of seeds (32) in some sunshine mix #4 two days ago under the 400 watt HPS.. and already some of them have broke through..
I think that I will just let the mothers grow the next 7 months until spring and throw them outside.. I will have 2 trees or really big hedges in my back yard.
I will take the occasional cutting from them here or there, but I am pretty sure that I am done growing this strain for a while..
Back to the seeds..
They are seeds that I created last year, I crossed my shiskaberry female (from seed) with my friends green crack male (obviously from seed).
My friend was going to throw it out.. I rescued the male and brought him home.
I just put them both in a closet with a timer and the trusty 400 watt HPS light and let them have sexual relations lol.
7 weeks later the seeds were obviously ripe.
So far I am very impresed at how fast some of them germinated and broke through the soil.
My next vertical grow will hopefully consist of 2 x 600 watt HPS and either shelves or tables: making sure everything is the correct distance from the cool tube.
I am however having problems with design.. Space is not the issue..
Here are the issues that I have come up with.
# 1. Height of plants, I already know that bigger plants = more bud. (I want to maximize light effeciency here not grow trees in my house)
# 2. Number of plants for best yield ?
# 3. Shape, octagon or square ?
# 4. Pot size, for maximum space and effeciency.
I will be vegging them for 6 weeks minimum before they go in the flower room..
I have to harvest everything from that room and clean it to prevent another run of spider mites also I have to design the room before I put anymore plants in that room.
The last harvest from that room will be in 6 weeks.
I have been looking at alot of vertical grows lately.
I am very impressed at what I have seen 90% of the vertical grows..
The Best one is here:
https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/41222-vertical-2-000watts-6lbs.html
He managed to get 5lbs from 48 plants in a 8x8x8 area and 2000 watts of HPS
If I could get one pound I would be happy..
I think that I will be greatly suprised at how the seeds yield will be.
Considering that I have been growing clones for quite a bit now and the yield is always less for some reason from a clone,
that is depending on how long you veg for I guess.
