Problem with all DIY Vaporizor

Hi, still in the early stage of building my first "Homemade Vape"... the research. one thing is sure is i wont smoke out of a bag...ever! so if that's the best tell me now because it's too ugly and annoying for me!

So far, i see that there is 2 ways to safely heat up quickly a small amount of air.

-lamp --------------->(halogen bulb 20w)
-heating element ---->(Heat gun or soldering pen)

These 2 seems to be the favorite out there, i do have questions about these 2.

the lamp: Would going higher 30w+ make the vape better or is there risk in choosing the W?
The Element:(i am leaving the heat gun because it's way to bulking and inattractive) so the element from soldering pen...I like the idea all the ones i see though seems to use the element as base were the herb is put on(in)... my problem is that i can't think of a way to use with a waterpipe. is there a way to put the element upside down (imagine you use a normal waterpipe, and simply use the element like a lighter and holding it over the bowl of the pipe?? to me that would make more sense?!?)

Now i don't really understand the heating part much.. i am fine with the level of heat needed, but not too sure about the air intake(that's what mess me up with the heat gun...where is the hot air going?? it shoots a lot of hot air)... I assume that with the lamp and the element, the air goes in and get heated quickly by the element while you suck and goes hot in that 1cm between the herb and the lamp vaporizing the herb.

is that right? is there something else to know about air in-flow?

Ok that's pretty much what makes me doubt on which model to create!! any specific would help, thanks

i did build the halogen bulb vape, i find it very good, but it's the only vape i've ever used so keep that in mind
the air flow comes from the smoker, i typically wait about 30 seconds or so for initial heat, take a hit, then turn off the vape
repeat but the next hits take less heating, it's something you get a feel for after a while

you do remind me of another question about the lamp one.... i did think of creating one that would use the lamp to heat up a lava-lamp that would rest on top... after all that exactly how the lava-lamp works in the first place....

Can or what would happen if we leave a vaporizer on all the time(assuming that the material can't burn)??

I was going to make one also,
I read that a 40 watt bulb works better. The air hole is directly under the bulb an sealed so you draw air through the suspended weed.

Vapro bros has a 30$ drop in vape attachment that fits most bongs.

if you can gauge the right size rock, it might work, but i think you need air circulation over the lamp to prevent it from getting too hot
my guess is this would probably just result in a burn out bulb
i used a stainless steel sink colander(bit bigger than an inch across), allows the ready flow of air, which works very nicely
normally if you leave the bulb on, it will burn the weed to ash

I understand the whole DIY thing. But vapes are like $40 on eBay for a cheap one. Seems like a lot of work when you can just buy one.

i did it because i was sure of all the materials used
i've seen bad reports of the cheap vapes having potentially toxic materials in the air flow
health was the whole point for me in getting a vape

I am kinda thinking about the artistic level added to building your own... what i see even brands are pretty bland... but before i can think of a way i kinda need to know the method i wanna do?

Although, what i would prefer before to get into artistik shit is to have a simple one that is really efficient....being a water pipe lover my best would be:
...well found a pic of the idea here-->

there's the iolite, that seems to kick ass... a hand held device that i assume would need to be recharged with butane every 10 minutes... might still be the simplest and cleanest way to go(device and butane can that's it!) just can't built that one plus not set yet on how to get it to my house in ch1n@...

i have noticed the iolite myself, probably the vape i've come closest to buying
so simple and convenient, from what i see others say about it
nothing wrong with a bit of artistry, but i agree that getting down the vape mechanics first is the way to go
