So, to be clear, this study was done in 2009?

I'm not sure that I would generalize all of the nutrients to have differing levels, just from this one analysis - that was done almost two years ago.

While I'm sure every nutrient company has bad batches at times, I'm not sure it's fair to single out Advanced Nutrients for this one report. I certainly wouldn't say that ALL of their nutes are bad then.

I have NEVER had troubles with Big Bud and I've been using it for years now. Even if there was an 'off' bottle at some point, um, I would return it and get another. A nutrient company can't do anything about a bad batch if they don't realize it.

My guess is that this was just a lot that didn't quite measure up, but since I don't see a worldwide problem right now, I think this was a limited issue - if it was an issue at all.

I recently did a little experiment, switching from GH to AN line completely. I just wanted to see if using AN products as recommended by AN if I would see any difference in yield bud quality etc when using clones from a previous grow done with GH. I went with the super expensive Connoisseur line and got all the expert level additives + sensizym. The grow will be wrapping up in about 3 weeks. Today will be the first day of week 6. So far my conclusion is.....AN is hype plain and simple. The buds look/smell almost exactly the same as they did with the GH products I was using. I am not noticing any increase in size or resin production or anything else for that matter at this point. Obviously I can't come to a complete conclusion at this point as the grow is still not finished. However, so far I can say I am not impressed and not planning on buying any of the products again in the future. I can't say I really expected a different outcome. I just wanted to give it a run for myself and see if I was missing out on something. Which I am apparently not. Next up is Canna nutrients. I want to give them a run as well and see how they stack up against the old GH. As for AN, many have said it already and I will confirm, save your money and don't buy into the hype. It's nothing special that you aren't getting from any other big name brand.
 
been using AD big bud and overdrive for about 4 weeks now I defo have more bud sites and they smell a lot more potent but This is the first big name plant food i'v used so cant compare.

Try a combo of liquid and dry koolbloom from GH you'll see about the same results. The liquid koolbloom is comparable to the Big Bud and the powder is comparable to overdrive.
 
I just got Canna's terra flores that I mix with Big bud for wks 2 to 6 and Overdrive for final faze thats working great for me a the mo.
 
Hey sourD, could you elaborate on that more? You always have really good info and I feel like I get what you mean, but it bugs me not to be sure.
 
Yes it is worth it. Speaking from experience. Although you will not need as much as is recommended on the label. I use it at half strength.
Good luck although when using advanced you won't need any. Who needs luck when you got skill.

Can any of the anti- ANer's name any other CEO of a nutrient company that has actually grown cannabis. Besides Big Mike. Have any of them ever even watered a house plant, most likely not. Find out for yourself if something is good or not before you make any recommendations. Don't just repeat what others have said, just because you assume they know. Not trying to offend anyone but there seems to be alot of harsh words spoken between people on this site all surrounding somebody asking a question about any Advanced Nutrients product. Really, unless you are on the payroll of the nutrient company you swear by why even waste time to talk smack about someone else's choice. Misinformation is all it is.

And fat mike wants people like you to believe cannabis has some special needs that no other plant requires and that his nutes fulfill those needs. The more educated growers, botanists and horticulturalists would never use AN, ever. They know better than to spend their money on incomplete formulas and wacky NPK ratios sold as 'boosters'. At the end of the day, AN users are paying a premium for the same mineral salts that are found in every other plant food out there. All these anti-ANer's are trying to do is educate the less educated.
 
I been using advanced nutrients for YEARS now and never once had a problem with anything nute related

i tried a bunch of other stuff like gh, botanicare and such and every single one of them gave me some trouble at least once.

So do you use Big Bud and or overdrive?

Only second time with them and coming to week 6 time for Overdive wondering should I still mix in my Terra flores (Canna I Know) like with the big bud.
btw big buds working great for the first part smells even better and loads more buds sites etc.

The hate mostly stems from AN claiming that they have the best nutrients. And that all other nutrients are inferior. This is just a marketing ploy, and you are right there are alot of peolple who buy stuff based on the marketing hype. Fact is most if not all nutrient companies do the exact same thing. It is called marketing. Humboldt Nutrients could easily be accused of the same in your face cannabis specific nutrient marketing scheme. But I don't see whole threads dedicated to slamming them. I have tried several other nutrients and also have friends who have shared some of thier experiences with several brands. At the end of the day I decided on AN because of the results not because of a magazine ad, or something someone said on a forum. I do appreciate the fact that you at least remained civilized in your responses. Let's just go with this phrase: "To each, his own."

Oh, Humboldt sucks balls :lol:. Give them a call and ask them some questions about their nutes. That's what I did and they told me to 'google it'. HUMBOLDT NUTES>...These retards were too fucking high to get anything done...They LITERALLY did not know their fucking nutes so when I asked a question they asked me to, go away take there "Almanac" and read about it...??? dude I could go on about how this company is wrong in a lot of ways but they are not worth it... If you want to know your nutes dont go with a company that doesn't even know their own...SHIT LIST....

Basically, I posted that thread because I thought it contained a lot of good fact when it comes to flowering. Fan leaves or any flowering foliage plants leaves for that matter are what actually produce the energy for buds to grow. Not necessarily high P fertilizers. Whatever it takes to keep your leaves green is what you need to worry about when growing healthy plants. Not like AN's big bud, FF Cha Ching, Humboldt Snow Storm, etc- high P foods that in contrary to popular belief are not required. Hope that it makes sense to ya

Every one of Humboldts products are incomplete to proper nutrition. They make them to where you have to spend a whole lot of money and have about 12 products on your shelf to complete the nutrition that a plant needs. Based off of looking at NPK ratios and ingredients, I wouldn't think that you could grow successfully just from there "base" nutrients which are lacking a lot of micro/macro's from what I see.
