Is it possible to limit the height of your plants... or at least control it somewhat?

Not that it matters for this year... but for obvious reasons for outdoor growing I am wondering if it is possible to control the height of your plants?

Other than 'timing,' by trying to plant according to how much time you have left in the season, is it possible.

Say you wanted to limit certain plants to maybe 6-7 feet, is this possible? Right now I have some 8.5-9 footers that a a bit taller than i would like.

Just to add, these are 'mut' seeds grabbed from leftovers given to me by friends. Next year I plan on ordering some proper seeds.... so are there strains that would meet my requirements and only grow a certain max height?

yeah bend it very slowly id tie a string to the top stake it to the grount and start gradually shortening the string .....thats what i would do if i was in your shoes........other than that your 1 month or 2 too late

Funny you mention that... if I had a different picutre I did just that... my tallest plants have one hell of a lean to them.

But I added it in my first post, are there certain strains that only grow a certain height?

I don't know if I should stop transporting my plants directly into the ground and find smaller pots so that I can limit the size that way? I love the way the plants grow in the ground.

actually, you all have pretty good ideas. But generally, if you'll stop giving your plant(s) Nitrogen.. they'll slow down and eventually stop vertical growth. That's what I do anyhow.

Good luck to ya.

peace..

I'm not even sure what that means. I am a very casual type grower the first 2 seasons I've done it. Next year I surely will do better. But I literally just have taken throw away seeds, potted them in Jiffys.... and transported them to soil, given them water, kept the males at bay and that's about it. My grows have turned out well so far, but obviously I have a TON of things to learn.

once it gets to your desired height you can top it 6" or so below that height and depending on how much longer untill it starts flowering it should stay within your desired height.!!!

or you can keep bending it over once it gets to about 5-6 feet bend it over one way for a week, then bend it over the other way for a week ect...you will be very impressed on how the plant reacts to that.!!!

thats kinda like LSTing i would guess the plant would release the same hormones

yeah you should just top (cut the main cola) and the plant will put more of its energy towards the lower parts of the plant itll get bushyer

Tying the plant down is the absolute #1 to control your plants height and quadruple the amount of head nugs, but you want to do this while the plant is still in its vegetative state. you want it to be a gradual bend so the plant doesnt freak out. you'll want the tip of the bent stem to be about a.e ( 1 foot off the ground if plant is 3 feet tall, 2/6, 3/9 etc) you have complete control of your height when you use the tie down method. hope this helps!

Do you know where a thread is that explains this is? I searched for "topping" but didn't find any threads that had this in the main title.

No BS, just pics of what works for me!!

I tie mine down - initially it was to lower the profile from the classic Xmas tree, but I found that all the branches then make like the main cola.

My best WW this year - tied down so that the top section was horizontal - I don´t fuss with doing it gradually - just tie the top to a lump of concrete in one go.

WOW!!!! That is awesome. Looks like you weren't gentle at all with it and just grabbed the main cola and tied it way down.

I am definitely going to get more serious next season. Even with all of my plants combined I'd be lucky to get 1/5 of your one plant's yield.
