What part of the actual peyote cacti do you eat. I mean do you just cut the whole green button from the roots then slice it up like a tomatoe and let the slices dry and eat them??
As Ndanja stated, when harvesting our beloved little 'yote friends be sure to cut about 2-3mm above the root, leaving said amount of green to allow for survival and eventual pupping. One of my little ones died as a result of a sloppy cut. And there is no need to let the cut tops dry before consumption. Eat them fresh if you can. Any bitter juices left on your blade or cutting board can be conveniently slurped up, which would otherwise be lost if the buttons were left to dry. There is something special about ingesting them fresh. Their spirit is strong. What part of the actual peyote cacti do you eat.
