new grower need some help please any answers would help

hello to you all i am new to the site & new to growing i have so much to learn.
well i have been reading posts on forums like this one i did some googling & youtubing for the pass week none stop

i gather alot of info but their is still some questions i need answers & everywhere i go people are asking to grow 6 to 10 plants & i notice that all the needs for someone like that is not mine this is what i mean i only wanna grow 2 to 3 plants max for personal use.

so let me tell you guys what i have to work with i don't have alot of space & i am on a budget of 400 max to start out with.

i also don't wanna run my light bill to the sky.

so based on my budget & work space & amount of plants i wanna grow i gather this list up

i wanna go with cfl's cheap & works
i also am going with a growing tent

depending on your diy skills, you could build a sweet setup and have a hid instead of cfl's. the difference in density alone is worth the cost, not to mention the size of the buds. since you're not looking for anything massive, you might as well maximize the space you have. you could build a full (dual chamber) tent for $50 and the rest could be on a 400w hps with a decent reflector. add another $100-150 for a fan/filter if you need it. if not a reasonable fan should be all you MUST have. soils and nutes vary in price and effectiveness, so the choice is yours. everyone has opinions, and most are just that. organic grows just add water, and many growers use walmart nutes with success, so don't get too caught up on name brands. cheaper alternatives work too. so once you have the space and lights planned out, the rest is entirely up to you.

@ ROBISHI - Believe me I'm doing what you want to do and I'm just getting to bloom and I already know I want a 400 watt MH/HPS. You can definately do it with the CFL's check my albums...but nothing like HID everything grows double time.

Don't waste your money on the CFL bullshit. You ain't gonna save more than 5 bucks a month running that weak shit. Get a good HID setup and it's gonna cost you about 20 a month in the electricity (400W). Well worth it if'n you axe me.

1st of all thank you so much for your answer.
how safe is it to run 400 watt hps lights ? is their something i need to keep in mind while using them besides never touch the bulbs ?
i wanted to use cfl's cause of the cheap price & ease of use i don't wanna burn my house down lol.

but let say if i did go with the clf's would 2 125 watt work for 2 or 3 plants ?

you should go to htg supply.com and they have small kits that you can buy for 300-500 bucks depending on what you want.the kits come with lights,dirt,nutes,and alot of little things that youll need for the grow.cfl lights are ok for vegging/clone/mothers but when you flower you want to go up to a hid,atleast a 400 but higher is better.if you want the most afficient get a 600 watt hps cause it gives you the most lumens per watt used.the best advice is just start growing and your gonna have to learn from mistakes and when you dial in your system youll love it.

i know that mh/hps is the way to go but i am a bit shy about it cause of the energy bill 400 watts sound like it would kill me running for 16 hrs a day can i get alway with maybe 200 watt? for 2 to 3 plants? how safe are mh/hps can i mist my plants with them on? or would they blow up?

but if i do choose to go with cfl's can i get always with 2x 125 watt cfl's?

its 2 foot all the way around, all walls are aluminum foil , yes aluminum foil lmao. NO roof
Using a 150watt hps light fixture, Sta-Green soil.
18 hours light-6 darkness.
I have added no nutrients what so ever, soil seems to be doing good.
Temp stays around 83 with light on , around 72 with it off.
Using a tower fan with 3 small fans blowing air in , and an exhause fan to take air out , not that it matters with no roof lol.

My plant is exactly 21 days old , its 8 inches tall , with 30 good visible leaves.
I know my whole setup is shit , dont gotta flame with comments , I know.
but its workin

btw i am looking at
Ozone Generators for the smell you know that is the only bad thing about growing in this cruel world the smell can screw your plans over so do you think it is safe to put this in the tent with the plants ? http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=53129 or is their a better way of going about this ?

also what is the best way to build a grow tent or should i just buy one ?

I have a 150 watt hps , plugs right into a household outlet , 120v cord.
You can leave it on 24 hours a day , and it will make your electric bill go up like 20$ , nothing to worry about.
Good for small grows , like 2 plants , maybe 3 max

Soil which was like 5$.

lol wow thanks for your comment bro is funny how easy it is to grow some people just make it harder then what it really is but really if it is working for your needs great i bet whatever you get should be better then of the streets buying : )

i agree with you it all depends of personal needs like myself i would be happy growing 2 plants at a time.
if growing would have been that hard people in the streets wont grow it the only bad thing about the street stuff is that they make them have seeds alot of the time wish makes the buds weaker. plus prices in the streets suck

I'm only growing 1 plant , since this is my first grow , and it appears I have a green thumb lol
Only thing I wasnt' for sure about was watering at first , was only use'n like a cup , but learn'd you gotta let it rain lol , helped out alot getting the watering right.

but a 150watt hps , can grow 2-3 plants in a small grow box.
