Yeah same thing I thought, alright thanks.I dont see why it would be illegal. just keep them unloaded and if you have a lock on your safe then keep them locked up and there should be no issues. I am a legal grower and i have guns and i even sleep with my pistol in arms reach next to my bed since there are no children or anything like that around. i would be fighting hard if i was arrested for having a gun and growing marijuana because i have had guns long before i started growing. i really wouldnt worry if i was you just keep them locked up, especially if you have some ar-15's or other assault type rifles, im sure if you have some of those just laying around you may be frowned upon.
yeah well thats pretty easy to get by. just keep the door locked at all times, its a good measure to do so anyway. i own quite a bit of guns and having some game warden show up at my door with cops is the last of my worries. what would they do anyway? kick the door in? no way they would. A game warden cant just enter your house on a suspicion unless you let them in. maybe in texas things are different but laws differ everywhere and i have never heard of anything like that happening. If that was happening alot, then alot of growers would be fucked that have registered guns. Just because you own guns doesnt even mean you are a hunter, you could be a collector like i am and there is no crime there.i suggest you get those hunting guns out of your house ASAP.
i suggest you quit hunting all together.
game wardens can and will search your property without a warrant to uphold hunting regulations. if your suspected of growing weed, and the police see you have registered hunting rifles, they'll just show up with the game warden under the guise he's making sure you haven't poached anything.
REPEAT: the whole hunting lifestyle and growing marijuana are not a good idea simply because game wardens can and will search without a warrant. in San Marcos texas it's customary for cops to show up at suspected drug houses with a game warden just so a search can be conducted without a warrant.
you've been warned.
game wardens are allowed by law to check any place where food may be stored. coolers and stuff. laws in most states are written in such vague terms that a game warden doesn't need consent.
he can walk into your property and start searching for the fun of it, and file a legal report to the police. it's an unknown and commonly used ploy by LEO's to search your shit without consent.
the spirit of the law is to avoid poaching. in practice it's used to gather evidence in cases that have nothing to do with hunting. and the search is considered legal.
google it. you'll find different points of view, but the general consensus is that game wardens can search your stuff(the definition of how far they can go is vague) without a warrant, and without consent.
I also think it kinda matters where you live also. i mean if you are in a rural area and have a couple acres or so, i could see this being a reasonable thing to happen if cops really wanted to get you, but if you lived in a neighborhood with a small yard or a trailer park or something i doubt a game warden would waste his time trying to check out your yard. I would actually find that pretty funny to see a game warden trolling a trailer park or something lol.. another thing, if you had some land and no trespassing signs would that be able to stop a warden from coming in or do those not apply to them in an investigation?game wardens are allowed by law to check any place where food may be stored. coolers and stuff. laws in most states are written in such vague terms that a game warden doesn't need consent.
