If the price of MJ is at a certain price now, why would they lower it... The people already have shown they will pay certain prices... It would make no business sense to lower the prices... "But their will be more competition"- actually there won't, there will only be a few places that will be allowed to mass produce it. So those few places will set their prices and everybody will pay it...
Many, many places will be growing a lot of fields of it. Don't kid yourself. Humboldt will let anyone who applies have a permit. Mendo is so eager they already have a permit plan waiting. Same with Santa Cruz city and county. Can't help but think counties like Sonoma will be far behind. There will be a shit ton of new buds on the market. It's not like anyone who is growing now is all of a sudden going to stop. There will be a lot of market competition, prices will drop.
I have no doubts that many (maybe even most) northern California economies will have a healthy growing economy. The only real concern is that feds might screw with legal grows over a certain size. These counties may have to allow a lot of smaller grows rather than a few massive ones for that reason.
Plus, growing indoor, paying taxes and people to work for you as well as the 200,000 a year you need for your licesnse...
From growing it till it hits dispensary shelves now there is over 1000% markup even for indoor. I did the math on my last cycle of hydro and there was a total of a 1200% markup by the time it hit dispensary shelves. Bud doesn't cost a lot because of growing expenses. Who says every city/county will have a $200k per year permit cost? City of Santa Cruz has already allowed two permits. Do you know how much those permits cost? $0.00. That's right, they were free under the condition that they be solar powered. So to assume the permits will cost $200k is not a good assumption.
If they are very efficient, they will be able to sell there ganja for 150 a ounce,
Half price? Yep. All buy that. Isn't half price a pretty big improvement?
but lets not forget the 50 dollar tax...
No where does prop 19 mention a $50 tax. No where does prop 19 actually create a tax. No where in prop 19 does it allow for a tax that local government couldn't place on cannabis without prop 19. Prop 19 doesn't tax cannabis. If you or anyone else doesn't believe me, I challenge anyone to show me where prop 19 creates any tax which local governments couldn't place on medical cannabis now if they wanted to.
yeah right, ill pay my 300 for killer underground strains grown organically by a decent man any day... And so will everybody that I know... Support your people and fuck the corporatization of MJ...
Well you won't be alone in that. I'd say most people will prefer their locally grown smoke. Prop 19 will keep those prices down too. They will lower their prices to be competitive with large commercial grows.
