Day 28 - Plant 1.jpgDay 28 - Plant 2.jpgDay 28 - The accident.jpg

While trying to re-tie down a branch this morning I accidentally popped off one of my tops, very sad ...

They had a nice little growth spurt over night. Hopefully the plant will repair what I have broken quickly.

That's unfortunate. But nothing to fret about. She'll be fine. A little tip. If you water the plant the day before tieing down, the stem will be more 'bendy' for lack of a better word, than when the soil's dry. That is usually when shit get's broken off. Dry soil, hard stem, breakage. Wet soil, soft stem, no breakage just supercrop... Make sense? lol. You'll be fine bud. No worries.

Thanks Hookd, I nearly shit when it happened.

To those of you reading, this is what really happens when people with NO SKILL in gardening try to grow weed lol.

Why don't you try cloning that broken top?
In the future I plan to get in to cloning, but for right now I am just trying to complete my first grow and have some dank buds to smoke. I have 3 more fem seeds of this same strain and 2 freebie females that came with my order. I have been thinking of building a PC case veg chamber but since all I have done is think about it I don't have anywhere to start cloning.

You'll be fine. Looks like you just topped her by accident. Now that she lost the tip she's just gonna grow the side branches into several new tops. You may have just increased your yield entirely by mistake.

Another happy accident.

I think you have given the exact opposite of the correct advice.

Imagine a fresh stick of celery, try to bend it and it will snap as the plants cells are full of water (turgid).
Let the celery dry out and it can be bent quite a lot before it even thinks about snapping (flaccid).
Slice off the bottom of the celery and put in a glass of water and it will suck up water and the plant cells will become turgid again.

Let your plants dry before bending, and they will bend without snapping ... let them really dry and they will even bend without any help (it's called drooping).

What exact brand of CFL's are you using? Lumens, watts, actual watts, and estimated cost would be very helpful.

My current light setup consists of:

4 x 42W 2700k Sylvania CFL's 2700 lumens each these were 10 bucks each at the lowes near my house.

I also purchased a 5 pack (only using 4 though) of 26W 6500k for 12 bucks at lowes. (I think these put out 900 lumens each if memory serves. lights are out for another 6 hours so I cant actually look on the bulbs for ya)

The light setup I built consists of 3 generic GE ceramic light fixtures (5 bucks each at wal-mart) with a Y splitter in each and the middle fixture has another Y splitter in each side of the original Y splitter. This is a total of 5 Y splitters which are roughly 3 bucks each at lowes. For power I spliced together 3 cheap 6 foot extension cords from wal-mart (one running to each light fixture and then combined for 1 power plug) You dont have to splice them together though if you just plug them into a power strip. My power strip's plug wouldnt fit into the plug on my timer so thats why I spliced.

You can replicate my lights for under 100 bucks. For detailed instructions on mow to build this light I recommend buying the "Buds for Less" book by SeeMoreBuds, I got mine on amazon for 15 bucks and it gives you day by day instructions on how to care for your plants.
