Hello forum , i am currently growing 2 autoflower Jock Horror plants from Nirvana, Shane ,the more sativa dominant one, the older one which started flowering about 10 days ago(53 days old total) , has many bud sites but only from the 6th node up and about 4 nodes worth of fan leaves have already yellowed and fallen off because of lack of light , and i have a question , most of the bud sides are at Stem nodes , branch nodes and top , and the top of the plant , but the main reason why branches and the bottom of the plant isnt receiving any light is because of thoese damn fan leaves:P i mean i like the way they look , but they get in the way of the light :) , and my 2nd plant , grasshoppa , which is more indica dominant , is much more bushy than Shane , which is going to cause a serious problem when it starts to flower in a few days, and finally after I've bored you with reading all this shit that i wrote , my question is the following : Can i cut some of the tips of the fan leaves? or maybe half of the leaves but not with the stem :) , or is there a way i can distribute light equaly without getting a reflector because it aint gonna fit in my closet , here are some pics of the plants and my closet in which i grow , or should i place the light bulb so it doesnt look straight down ,i mean i don't know the right word , but instead of it beeing like this ,, l " maybe it should be like this ,, _ "100_0561.jpg100_0563.jpg100_0566.jpg100_0564.jpg100_0565.jpg

start thinking of your fan leaves as solar panels, without these panels your plant will not collect the energy it needs to photosynthesize. Buds do not collect light nor do bud sites. the problem isnt in how the light is hung or the leaves its in the light itself. it just is not powerful enough to penetrate the folige no matter how you hang it. cfls are not the best option for flowering out plants let alone 1 cfl at that. dont mess with the plant, get yourself some more light.

If youre wondering why plants look a little retarded it's because i pull the fan leaves down a little and put the branches on top so that the leaves stai below the branches , but doesnt work that well

So the best thing to do is to go and buy a 400watt HPS ?since my CFL is 200watt i think the HPS will do better for flowering

if you cant fit a hood in there I doubt a 400w hps is going to work out for you either. however a 150w hps would probably workout for you well in that space, and the 150w hps will out shine the 200w cfl all day long. The only drawback will be the heat, but if you have cash to spend on a 400w hps then you should be able to find a 150whps and small heat extraction fan for the same price or less.

How does a 150watt hps out shine a 400watt hps , i don't get it :)) isnt watt supposed to mean more power:P?

150w hps wont out shine 400w hps, but it will outshine a 200w cfl. the power is measured in watts, but the light intensity per watt is different between cfls and HID lighting. HID lighting gives you more lumens per watt than cfl
