Hi guys

I am half way through building my cab but i have run into a little problem.
i have everything hooked up lights fans the lot but i carn't work out how to take my wires out the box without causing light leaks and air leaks how have you guys got round this problem. my idea is to take them through the bottom of the cab through a hole and then use lots of tape to seal it up and make it air tight. i need some other opinions thoe thanks guys :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

My local indoor guru said spray foam was how he rolls, but admitted it wasn't for everyone. I didn't like the idea of foam being stuck to everything so I used an old rag for my utility runs. Just stuff it around the wires; it keeps the light out and prevents air from moving.

You have the right idea, cut a hole, fish the wires through and seal it up the best you can. You could also run them through a pipe with a 90 degree bend in it. I guess it depends on if you want it light tight or air tight.

The spray foam sounds like it would work well but it might be a bitch getting the wires out if you ever needed to. I'm still new at all this and I'm just designing my first cab but it seems that if you had your wires going through a small enough hole and they weren't going to have any tension on them then you might be able to use something like DAP All-Purpose Caulk. You might have to add it in a couple of layers to get the seal you're looking for. i.e. put some on and wait for it to dry, re-apply and dry till you're satisfied.

If the wires are going to be moving around in the hole a lot though I could see tiny holes being created between the caulk and the wood.

lol my idea is to just feed the wires through the bottom of the box then stuff aload of fabric in there the tape up the gaps with duck tape
