Does seedling growth slow after sprouting?

I have been very curious, as I am on my 2nd grow and am wondering if growth slows down momentarily right after sprouting. It sprouted about 48 hours ago, is about an inch or so tall, and has the coteyldon (probably badly mispelled) and a small first set of true leaves. I read somewhere that after sprouting, the seedling will stop growing in the pursuit of the development of a root system. Is this true? and should I expect my little ones to take off soon? I have onyx by short stuff, wild berry, and northern lights by paradise. temp is 80, air circulation, dome keeps it at 60-80 % humidity, and i only watered lightly once i placed the already germinated seeds into the soil, using (4) 23 watt cfl 6500 K, of course, with three seeds in separate small containers. they are medium to light green and appear healthy, i'm just curious because although the set of leaves is bigger than when i first noticed it had sprouted,

No, mine dont slow like that. They get bigger and bigger everyday after they sprout, how far are the lights from them? I've found that has a huge effect on this and it really pays to do what you have to do to get them as close as possible, keeping a fan blowing on the seedling and lights(42w 6500k cfl) hung over the seedlings is enough so that i can keep them 1/2 inch or so away from the tops.

do you at some point start to move the lights further apart as the plant grows? or do u keep it 1/2 inch away

I keep them within an inch or two max later on as they get bigger. more light is spread out that way over the plant, do you plan on getting an hps for flower?
