Topping question

I would like to start out by thanking everyone who has shared their knowledge on this site. You have helped me tremendously. So I am growing 3 plants under 2 4' t5's at the moment. I am hoping to soon add 1 or 2 more 4' t5's. I would like to top my babies to get several colas. However I hav heard that topping them may be risky because the flourescents do not give off intense enough light for the plants to recover. Any thoughts on this? Also if anybody could post a link to a video describing topping that would be greatly appreciated.

T5's give off as much lumens as a 150W HPS if not more I believe. Especially if theyre 4footers. I would say you're clear to do it.

I started all my outdoor stuff this year inside under 2 4ft t5s. I had ten plants growing and i took 30 clones off about 6 plants before i put my plants outside. All the plants i took clippings off of recovered very well under the t5s

lots of floro users top, and thats the reason they do it, they use CFL or similar. T5 is sweet, but I imagine your going to need more light on the sides, and different bulbs if your going to flower with it.

I didnt see SCROG in the initial post, but yeah, GO FOR IT, thats what you "MAY" want to do, but we need more info on the project. My first setup IS a scrog, and IS just beautiful :) Tell us your setup, space, other lights, fans, bla bla bla.

What strain(s) are you looking @? Maybe someone here can chime in on their "Scrogability" and results, or help recommend something. As for Papaya/Mango, its a SHORT, MONSTER plant, i think it was made for scrog LoL, and seems to be very resilient to my NooBness, although i have plenty of other horticulture EXP.

If all that i had was that T5 fixture, i would add some CFLs in flower, and most definitely SCROG.

hi mate, if you want to top them it shouldnt be a problem, just remove the newest growth on the end of each branch at the top, you should get to colas everytime you do this, have topped some plants over ten times, when it comes to scrogging go for it it works...
