Lucas Formula aint so Simple!

Ok. so it may be simple but I am reading so much conflicting information. Some people say to do it 100% full strength others say to do half during seedling stages. Some say to do this under flouros and some say to do that under non flouros. WTF!?

What makes me even more worried is I read from the people who say to always go full strength that if you don't go full strength your plants will get owned. And vise versa from the others who say to work your way up.

Is it just personal preference? Or is it strain dependent.

What should I do!

Whenever you are working with CHEMICAL nutes, always mix at 1/2 strength and only feed every other watering. That is the basic rule for using nutes to prevent from burning your plants, which is a common problem amongst new growers.

I wasn't aware Lucas Formula was a product...... It is a basic recipe with which various products can be used, including chemical nutes. Nowhere on the site does it claim to be organic....

http://lucasformula.com/ Would be a better place to send the OP, as it is directly related to his concern.....

The correct terminology would be organic and inorganic, not chemical. Chemical makes them sound bad for your plant when really, the minerals (whether organic or inorganic) are all the same to the plant.

First of all, they're not 'chemical' nutes, they're synthetically made from minerals mined from the Earth.

To answer the OP's question, reference the GH feeding schedule below for a good idea on how much to feed and when. The Lucas formula is decent and shouldn't burn plants when used correctly, but it can't be used full strength from seedling to harvest.

Hey that feeding schedule it says "Mineral Drain to Waste Keep it Simple Program" - Does that mean a hempy bucket style since the water is draining out and not being used?

I understand what you are saying, but, consider this.... The ingredients in Fox Farms Grow big are mostly organic, however it is considered a chemical fertilizer because it is formulated and concentrated. Maybe the better term would be liquid fertilizers versus dry organic matter? Not trying to argue with ya, but it seems confusing.

The 'Mineral Drain to Waste Keep it Simple Program' looks great for what your needs are. Once you get into flower, you can start using the lucas ratios. Maybe start with 5m and 10B, then increase if your plants are responding well, OR just continue with the GH schedule.
