Is it o.k. to lollypop plants in late pre-flowering/ early flowering?

Is it o.k. to lollypop plants in late pre-flowering/ early flowering? I'm maybe half-one week in of flowering and the preflowers are starting to get larger, probably just prior to the start of flowering. I still see no hairs coming out from the top leaf sets, so I don't know. Will it stress the plant too much? I would just like to do a light lollypop near the base of the plant, seeing as how I would only yield small popcorn nugs from the lower and less exposed branches... I want to try to get large and heavy tops. Thanks!:hump:

I really don't understand the point of lollipopping... You are literally decreasing the plant's ability to grow by cutting off fan leaves... Your nugs will be bigger if you let it take all the light in rather than cutting off its source of energy. Get a bigger yield by vegging longer, and putting your plant in a bigger pot - it's as simple as that. BTW, it's a bit late to LST... You can pull off some extra side-branching at this point but you won't get main colas, as you would if you LST'd earlier, in veg

Huh, I never tried LST in flower... I always thought it was better to train them from a young age so they have crazy branching and multiple MAIN colas instead of just... bigger branches. But w/e works... And I always thought lollipopping was done during flowering... it makes more sense that way, in a completely illogical way (as is the concept itself), as a vegetative plant doesn't look like a lollipop, but a flowering one does...

when you cut off lower budsites and anywhere the buds wouldnt be part of a massive cluster of them is lollipopping. The theory being any energy being put into those lower buds/popcorn buds will go into making less more massive colas. It's also used on sog plants to keep them to just one big main cola each so you dont have all that less desirable lower growth blocking other plants and taking up space. Thats the theory and its a bit different from just cutting off fan leaves, but ive got mixed feelings on it. I have tried it and compared to a non-lolipopped plant its buds were bigger overall, but their is a better solution to the problem imo, add some more sidelighting and train the plants. It's the best of both worlds, you get all your buds and dont stress your lady during the most important part of her life, and since they are all top main colas you dont have that popcorn/lower bud issue at all. Imo, sog is really the only time it pays to lollipop em, but everyones got their own ways and its worth it to them.

Kind of interesting, lol, almost as cool as the lip balm that growtech makes. Man, im having problems finding a good guide still. I'll keep looking though i suppose. Grrr, nothing good yet, im close to giving up.
