How far away should 400w mh be?

2 day old seedlings, 5 days from sprout, little hot in the room 86, with chance of getting to 92-94 sometimes, but not for long periods of time.
right now there probally a good 24 inches away. couple seem to stretching.

just wondering how far i should put them, just right now have no clue how close, i'm thinkin i should move the light down to 12 inches above, any suggestions? thanks alot.

Sounds like you need some ventilation, I am assuming the reflector is not enclosed... Dare I ask what forces are needed for the "chance of getting to 92-94" ? Sprouts under an MH with high temps I dont think this is going to end well. Consider buying a CFL light for the first week or two.

I would say with an open reflector 2 feet minium for sprouts.

thanks bubbles u been helpful, i'll keep them were there at, they actually are doing pretty good, one that i knocked over a couple days ago and completely dumped out, and had to put back in, just started perking up again. the rest look pretty good so far.

btw its when i have to close the door, the temps climb, i'm working on the venting now, think i got a good plan with a stanley blower. gonna try to not shut the door at all intill i get some kinda intake and exhaust going on.
