Slik does the big toe curl and gets to the gates of heaven where he is promptly asked for his soul....

Peter: Okay, just give me your soul and you're in.
Slik: Ummm, I can't seem to locate it (paper shuffles)

Peter: Oh for Goodness sakes, not another lost soul?!

I used Sweet Grape on a plant and molasses on another of the exact same strain.

I think that it DID affect the flavor...and that the Sweet one was sweeter. Not grape tasting mind you...just sweeter.

The growth was either identical or close to it on both plants...power/potency seemed the same as well.

Smell seemed the same. It's odoriffic herb already...nothing changed. :)

i heard that when you use sweet it trys to mask the natural flavor of the weed but if you use something like bud candy it boosts the recepters that make the weeds natural flavor or something to that effect maybe someone else knows more about that though

I've used sweet and molasses and if anything thought the molasses produced better results.

Adding molasses does not affect the taste of your buds, that is not why it is used. It's used to provide carbos, iron, and magnesium. I believe the greatest benefit comes from the addition of iron and mag. It iis especially helpful if you are using Fox Farm products which is somewhat deficient in those nutrients.

I've used carbo load, sweet and molasses in a side by side comparison on "the church" by GHS and not a big difference between them besides price. I will stick with molasses no pun intended.

Sorry to pull this tread out of the graveyard, but I'm curious what type of molasses that people use? I've seen a few things in this tread saying black strap molasses isn't very good, yet there is no mention of a better alternative.

What is the best sweetener you've used, and if it's molasses/honey/produced nutrient, what kind?

I'm currently running half Botanicare Sweet and half Black Strap Molasses since I can't find a firm verdict anywhere.

Hey, Ill try and help dig this out of the graveyard. To begin with, you're right on the dot. I see god/bad/indifferent about molasses or blackstrap molasses. The main thing about molasses is that blackstrap, brer rabbit "dark" molasses and "light molasses is basically the way they process it. The difference in blackstrap/dark is the one that is mostly unprocessed (dark). Meaning it holds more of its so called organic value (theres not much taken out of it). From everyone I have talked to uses(ed) blackstrap. I may be new to this forum, but its because Im so tired of grasscity.com's forums being turned into the growers version of myspace.

I have roadrunner auto., haze auto., big bang, lemon skunk, and super silver haze. I use botanicare sweet and brer rabbit dark molasses. I have used humboldt honey, AN carboload, and technaflora's sugar daddy. The botanicare sweet line has the same content of AN big bud in the micronutes, amino acids, organic acids, and Mg. On top of that, it really brings out the natural floral aroma and taste of the buds. Blackstrap covers any loose ends to make positively sure the micro-organisms are fed and the plants have their full carb potential.

MOST of these plain blackstrap users are just too "thrifty" to spend money on a brand so they say that molasses does all the same things because they read the lable. Its NOT the same, it has A LOT more things molasses doesnt, and just because something is derived from molasses doesnt mean it is the same thing. Thats like saying $3 molasses is the same as AN big bug.

To conclude this, youre right on it. Stick with blackstrap and sweet. After personally testing with liquid karma, pro blend grow, pro blend bloom, pro blend soil, House&Garden shooting powder, sweet and molasses, I got an 11% increase in yield. Just do yourself a favor and never use hydroplex, its just liquid karma with P-K. As many things as that sounds like, its relatively simple. The main thing yuo wanna do is find something that works and dont skrew around with it.

I got a sample 250ml of Sweet from my local hydroponics store for free to try it out. For optimal use use with every watering. I had never seen as much growth in the couple weeks I use it.

Youre really lucky. I paid top dollar for my 3 bottles. where i am theres only like 2 hydro stores and every one of them is monitored by the cops. so i have to order it offline... and yeah i just hit veg stage last week and ive never seen my plants grow so big so fast. minus my automatics. theyre slow as shit, but then again ive never grown autos before. but hey im glad to hear someone else out there caught on to sweet.

How much molasses should be used in a hydro setup? I have a 15 gallon reservoir. I've used sweet with my past few grows and love it! thanks in advance.
