bhang with a crock pot?

hey all, I was wondering if I could make bhang with a crock pot.

more specifically, I was wondering if putting milk in a crock pot on low for 2-4 hours would make it go bad?

I like bhang a lot, I've made stove-top bhang that involves cooking for an hour and a half, so I don't see why it would go bad after 2-4 hours but I'd like to know if anyone knows for sure, has experience with this, or science to say this or that.

pretty basic question . . .will milk go bad cooking longer periods of time than an hour and a half? on low heat?

your milk will not go bad as long as you don't burn it. never heard of a bhang until now, they soung good.

i saw one recipe which took hours and hours to prepare. it involved heating the milk/ground weed mix, and using your hands to remove the 'paste' and ringing it out over a bowl. and then you do it over and over and over and over again. you add honey, cinamon, and other spices to sweeten it up.

but i'd rather do a alcohol infusion, if you don't drink, don't bother reading further...

using a really really strong grain alcohol (preferably 190 proof) and dropping about 1/8-1/4 of crushed mids (corn, good reggie) into a flask, and fill it 4/5 of the way up with grain alcohol. shake it up, shake it up and shake it up again and again. then leave it for a day or two, and shake shake shake...... i don't know how long it would take for ALL the thc to be infused into the liquor, but i guess about 1-2 days of sitting there, and shaking, and sitting....

strain it using a wire strainer, or if your really picky a coffee strainer.

use that alcohol to make yourself drinks.... a cap or two into a hot cup of milk/cinamon/vanilla extract should give you a nice buzz....

i'd go for a 3 parts amaretto, 1 part liquor infusion, 1 part hot whole milk, and a few pinches of different spices to give it some taste.... a good little drink for those miserable winter nights, after a long day, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

yeah I don't drink alcohol, I think the milk is better because it lasts longer while it hits you quick.

but thats helpful, based on what you said in the beginning ,how they cook it for hours total . . . that basically tells me whats up.

any other opinions definitely wanted!

i don't know how hot the crock pot gets, but thc has to 'carbolyxe' before using it to make any ingestibles.... i read in another forum that 20 minutes spread out on a sheet in the oven at about 300 degrees does the trick.... or just sautee it on a nonstick pan.

and the recipe i saw didn't just let the milk sit there with weed in it.... if you do it in a crockpot then you should give it a good mixing every 10-20 mins.

this is how the recipe worked:

you have to start out with like half oz+ of weed, and grind it up really fine. put it into the milk and as the book said "work it". then ring it into a bowl, and then the process is repeated with the mushed weed that you alraedy worked in this second bowl with the milk that was ringed out the first time. the process continued like this. i remember it said that you started out with a lot of weed and milk, and then it reduced into a glass or two of milk when you were done. the milk had to change color to a brown/greenish i think....

anyways good luck...

well I got it going in the crock pot now. probably wont let it go any longer than 2 hours, will watch it closely.

so anyone know if this milk is gonna go bad if I cook it 3 hours on low? it expires on the 21st, is this going to speed up its expiration date?

well I cooked it 2 hours, took a small (one ounce I think) shot of it at 3:02 . . . . will post back with it's effectiveness.

13 grams. that's what happens when recipes aren't well known and methods aren't well shared . I figure with all my failures and successes I'll be able to make a definitive cook book that will help everryone for free . .. .

Despite your failure I'm trying this in the crocker tonight.

1/2 oz. of already vaped high grade and 1 pint (2 cups) of half and half. I will keep it on low for a few hours and probably with do a shot of it in next couple of days.

Thanks to everyone who experiments. Just like anything in life, sometimes you score, most of the time you don't. ;)

so any luck olympus?
I had some success with this. I put the vaped weed and the half and half in the blender and liquified it. I poured the foamy mix into three coffee cups and placed them in the crock pot on high for one hour and then turned it down to low for three more. If I did this again I would probably just cook it over the stove just under boiling for about and hour because you have to constantly stir it. I left it for two hours and came back and it was sludge. The next day I put the bhang into a pot with about a half cup of almond milk, two teaspoons of suger and about one teaspoon of cinnamon. I then filtered out the chunkiest parts of the mix with a screen. This really helped get rid of the planty taste. I added about one teaspoon to my coffee in the morning and had a nice body high all day long. The thing I really like about this recipe as opposed to butter is that I felt it almost immediately. Next time I may double the dose and see if I can improve the head high. Only bad things about it are that it takes so long to come down and it's perishable.

I used double the amount of weed most recipes call for because it was vaped weed. So the plant/milk ratio was high on the plant side. After I boiled it again with the almond milk and strained it I had pure liquid goodness. I kept the sludge in a separate container and put in the freezer in case I think of some way to use it.

yo poplars... came across this thread cause i was seeing what people were doing for bhang around here... anyways to answer your question, yes you can cook milk for a long time and it will not go bad... just make sure the temp stays above 140 while cooking, but dont overheat it... the thing i have always wanted to try was to make a bhang/dulce de leche style fusion thing, because i make dulce de leche fairly often and it is easy. it also seems as though it would go hand in hand with the spices that are traditional of bhang. here is a recipe of dulce de leche,

http://www.cookingforengineers.com/recipe/255/Dulce-de-Leche

and i typically follow the one where you just double boil the can of condensed sweetened milk. when my grow is finished i think i just figured out exactly where all my hash is going, im going to make dulce de leche, or bhang in that manner... i think if you were to make the bhang very thick, like in the dulce de leche it would give it a very long shelf life, and you could also thin it with a bit of milk to make it like bhang thandai, which is the bhang drink.

either way, get at me about this in irc, and i am definitely doing something like this when i crop up in a couple weeks...
